Stepfather/Daughter Wedding Song

My step father is more like a father to me than my real dad. He`s walking me down the isle for my wedding even. He`s been in my life for 7 years and he would do anything for me. I think i want to dance to a country song so i would like something sweet that would touch his heart and tell him how much i care about him

If anyone still reads this, a great country song to dance with a stepfather at a wedding is Trace Adkins "Then they do". Here are the lyrics......

In the early rush of morning,
Trying to get the kids to school:
One`s hanging on my shirt-tail,
Another`s locked up in her room.
And I`m yelling up the stairs:
"Stop worrying `bout your hair, you look fine."

Then they`re fightin` in the backseat,
And I`m playing referee.
Now someone`s gotta go,
The moment that we leave.
And everybody`s late,
I swear that I can`t wait till they grow up.

Then they do, and that`s how it is.
It`s just quiet in the mornin`,
Can`t believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
Then they do.

Now the youngest is starting college,
She`ll be leavin` in the Fall.
And Brianna`s latest boyfriend,
Called to ask if we could talk.
And I got the impression,
That he`s about to pop the question any day.

I look over at their pictures,
Sittin` in their frames.
I see them as babies:
I guess that`ll never change.
You pray all their lives,
That someday they will find happiness.

Then they do, and that`s how it is.
It`s just quiet in the mornin`,
Can`t believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
Then they do.

No more Monday PTA`s,
No carpools, or soccer games.
Your work is done.
Now you`ve got time that`s all your own.
You`ve been waitin` for so long,
For those days to come.

Then they do, and that`s how it is.
It`s just quiet in the mornin`,
Can`t believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
Then they do.

Ah, then they do.

Brad Paisley`s "He didn`t have to be" IS a beatiful song. However, it is a little boy talking about the man his mother married. The little boy hopes that he will "grow up to be half the Dad, that he didn`t half to be."

"There You`ll Be"
This is a song by Faith Hill from the movie Pearl Harbor I am using this at my wedding to dance with my stepdad. I was already 16 when him and my mom got together and I was hesitant to "let him in" to our lives, my life, but he`s been very patient and let me make a realtionship with him on my own terms in my own time. This song is great because it talks about giving me strength and being there and I know he always will be because he was there (standing in the background waiting for me to come around) even when I didn`t want him to be there for me! Its really I great song! I hope this helps someone!

When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I`ll be glad `cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I`ll look and see your face
You were right there for me

[Chorus:]
In my dreams
I`ll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I`ll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you`ll be
And everywhere I am
There you`ll be

Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me

[Repeat chorus]

`Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

[Chorus:]
In my dreams
I`ll always see you soar
Above the sky
In my heart
There will always be a place
For you for all my life
I`ll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you`ll be
And everywhere I am
There you`ll be
There you`ll be

I am in the same boat and getting married in 7 days. The problem is that I have a good relationship with my dad and step dad. So I don`t want to play a song that is too strong to hurt my dad.

I`m in the same boat... These are great:
Rope the Moon - John Michael Montgomery
My Wish for You - Rascal Flats
When You Come Back Down - Nickel Creek

I picked Rope the moon - It`s perfect!

Best of Luck : )

A good song I love is "There Goes My Life" by Kenny Chesney. It always brings a tear to my eye.

I`m kind of in the same boat. Except that my father is still around. My step-dad has been wonderful, and I feel closer to him than my real dad, but I still love them both. I`m trying to find a song for my step-dad that won`t overpower my dad`s song ("Butterfly Kisses" by Bob Carlisle), and vice versa. Any suggestions?
