Fumbled On Flowers

Hi Ladies,
I`m 27 and I will be getting married in August 2004. I`ve decided on a Black & White theme and I have not the slightest idea of what to do for flowers. I originally wanted red, but it will look silly in pictures. You won`t even see them against the black dresses. The other idea I had was purple and yellow, but everyone is doing that. Not to mention it looks like Easter. Anyone have any "colorful" ideas to go with black & white. I`m looking for something bold. Thanks.

I think red would go fine.

You don`t think it would look too vampish? I`m having an evening wedding. Or should I add another color to it?

I think red would look pretty or maybe mix in some peach roses with the red.

They also sell these beautiful dark peachy red roses that are gorgeous. You can see what they look like on 1-800 flowers website under roses. They are under March`s Rose-Springtime Glow.

Hey Maddy,

I have one question for you.........do the roses look too orangey to you? Have you seen them personally? I just don`t want them to look like the girls are holding pumpkins against the black dresses. (Halloween???)

Why dont you have a accent color like silver?? that would look wonderful w/ black and white. If you have white flowers you can have then accent the leaves in siver or the tips in silver and they would really show up in pics.
I am getting married in april (next month) and have light pink white and silver accents for my colors they look beauitful together.
I believe some one said maybe peach.. I would think that would be really beauitful also

Yes, peach does seem to be a great color. I found a lighter and brighter red as to the regular scarlet red rose. But I also like this beautiful peachy pink color too. Thanks for all your help, Ladies. Very much appreciated.

Hey T,

I think they look beautiful, not too orangy they are like a rosy color but no I haven`t seen them online. For my wedding I am having blush and rose colors and what I`m doing is having the bridesmaids bouquets all white with one pink rose in the middle to match there dresses and mine is going to be all pink with one white in the middle. The pink will be a little darker than there dresses.

What about having one white rose in the middle of a bright bouquet?

That sounds beautiful, Maddy. When are getting married? I`m from Massachusetts, are you on the east coast by chance?

I saw pictures from a wedding where the dresses were dark and the flowers were orange, purple, and yellow - very BOLD and they were so pretty. It was a year ago I saw these pictures and I can still remember how pretty those bouquets were! I think the combo of colors would keep the orange from looking Halloweenish. Good luck! Oooh...another idea is the bold blue hydrangea - that would be pretty with black and white...

My daughter is having a black and white wedding next month. She is carrying white cala lillies and open white roses. Her girls are carrying open white roses with star gazer lillies (which give a touch of hot pink). At the church, there will be 3 altar arrangements of jewel-toned flowers.

Hi T,

Glad I could help. Massachusetts not toooo far from me. I`m in New York City and I`m getting married on May 1st, 2004 in Long Island. I am having "I finally found my prince" theme which will be based all on how a princess kisses a froggy and he turned into a prince. I love frogs and even have a frog tattoo so it`s perfect for me. I know it will be tough but I know I can think of ideas.

If you ever need any advice e-mail me at mad4froggies@aol.com or at this website :)

What about lilies or orchids, they come in different colours. If you want a little punch with the black and white, go for bright pink calla lilies with white roses, green leaves and maybe (if you can get them - hard to find) a couple black roses.

My MOH got married last year and her Mother who loves and lives in black all the time asked if she would be offended if she wore a black dress to the wedding. The bride approved as she know it is THEE FAV color and the Mom was not trying to send a message. Anyway she found a very pretty black and silver glittery (not too much) actually very pretty dress. So my friend surprised her with a black orchid corsage it was absolutely breath taking! Until then I never knew they existed. Are your girls dresses black or white? Wouldn`t a bouguet of either black orchids with one white in the middle, or white orchids with one black in the middle depending on which color the girls dresses would be. So if black you could do primarily white with the black in the middle so they would stand out in the pictures! Silver accents would look beautiful also. Good luck!

Congrats!! I too, am getting married but in Sept. Of 2004, in Sedona, AZ. I am also having my bridesmaids wear black and I was thinking like bold flowers, with red, orange, and yellow. Those stand out. I am still looking to see the different types of flowers in those colors. I really like orchids. But that is an idea for you. Take care, and congrats again.
