21st Birthday-40s Style Please Help

I absolutely LOVE the 1940s. I`m an old movie buff and I just love the elegance of that era. My 21st birthday is in September so I`ve got some time but I want to throw a 1940s style bash...I can`t find anything so I decided to go with Mardi Gras but If I can find a way to do the 1940s thing, which is what my heart is set on, that`s what I`ll do...is there anyone that could help me out with finding outfits, hairstyles, proper decorations...? I`d really appreciate it. Some of my favorite actresses from that era are Jane Powell, Donna Reed, Barbra Stanwyck and Myrna Loy (although Thin Man was in the 30s I believe) If there is a way I could copy one of their looks I`d really appreciate it.
