How To Make Out The Gift Check

My first cousin`s son is getting married in a few weeks.
This will be an out of town wedding which we will be unable to attend. We will be sending a check. Who should the check be made payable to? The groom, the bride (in her new married name), or both parties?

I would not make out the check to both parties -- having worked at a bank it usually requires both signatures on the check and there could be some problems if the brides last name hasn`t changed yet as far as on her identification. Hope this helps a little.
