DEPO THE SHOT FROM HELL

I took depo for the first time in Oct.2001 within that month I went from 150 to 180. My sex drive completely gone, I experienced mood swings like never before! I even broke out in a huge rash where I recieved the injection. Now 2 years later I only had 1 full period some months I spot and some months nothing what so ever. My doctor says its absolutely normal and it takes a longer period of time than others to regain your cycle. I am getting married this year and plan to have a family but the way things are now I might as well kiss the family thought good-bye!!!
DEPO IS NOT THE WAY TO GO.....IT MAY SEEM GOOD NOW BUT LATER ITS THE WORST YOU COULD HAVE DONE TO YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you know of any valuable info please write!

I`ve been on Depo for the past 7 years. I have had some weight gain, but only about 20 lbs over the past 7 years. My only complaint is the loss of sex drive. So what is the Dr. Telling you for time to regain a normal cycle??? My Dr. Assured me that I will have a normal cycle and that most women take about 2-3 months to get things going again. He did mention that in some rare cases it took 18 months....... What are you doing for B.C. In the time being?

Ladies, ladies- Can`t believe women go on `the shot`- of course it screws w/you!! You no longer have a period! That can`t be good for us! I was on the pill for years and finally even gave that up b/c I was sick of all the extra hormones in my body. I recommend an IUD. They are totally safe and there are 2 kinds- one that has hormones and one that doesn`t. They stay in your body for 5 or 12 years, depending on which one you get. I`ve had mine for about 3 months now and it`s great! I have WAY more sex drive and my period is normal. There are just a couple of things- 1st- the pill really DOES help out w/clear skin! I`m not a pizza face or anything but there is a noticable difference! The other thing is that getting the IUD inserted is REALLY painful. It`s not a lasting pain, but it does hurt for up to 12- 24 hours. And the 1st period after you get it is a little crazy ie. Heavy, long, spuratic. But if you can get past that, it`s a great chioce. I won`t go back! And after I have kids, I`ll get another one inserted!

Good Luck!

Arter my second child I went on the depo shot. After the first shot I had my cycle everyday for three months. When I went in for my second shot the doctor told me that it should go away within the next month or so ("my body was just getting used to the shot"). It never did. I never went in for the next shot. It took about six months for everything to get back to normal. It`s been two years since the shot and my husband and I have a beautiful baby boy. I am now on the forth month of the birthcontrol patch and have had NO side affects. It seems to be working and it is an easy birthcontrol.
