Kids At A Reception
Need your help. My family consist of lots of kids. Even my intermediate family. I have like 35 neices and nephews ages ranging from 1 to adults (lots of toddlers), so excluding kids would be out the question.
Should I find entertainment for the kids at the reception or do you think they will be fine. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

It might be a good idea to hire either a teenage member of the family or someone from your church to "babysit" the kids. Actually if you really have that many you might need 3-4. Have some tables in the back corner of the room designated as kids` tables, serve them kiddie food, have crayons, books, hand held games, bubbles, etc. For them to play with. Have the baby-sitters take them to the dance floor for a kids` dance so they feel special. You know the kids better than I, so you can come up with the specifics of things they will like the most. But it is always a good idea to have them occupied at least at the reception.

OrientalTrading.com has some very inexpensive small wedding coloring books that come packaged with a set of crayons. We bought them so each child would have their own little favor.

Since there are so many kids it might be a good idea to hire some tye of entertainment for the kids... Having one or two babysitters is also very important... If you are getting married and using a hotel for a reception rent a room and have at least one sitter up there to help with sleepy/cranky tots...
You might consider a magician, off in one corner (they usually dress in black and won`t be too much of an eyesore...) Or even a story teller...

I have about the same amount of kids coming as you do.....( I have ATLEAST 32 kids under 10 coming!) My fience has 9 bros & sisters. I have 2 cousins with 5 kids each and everyone we know has atleast one kid and I have a 3 year old. Its gonna be crazy but fun! Its the most important family day ever and I cant believe some people can have receptions without kids. Its so sad! Anyway here is what i am doing. #1 I have a local lady I met at a bridal show who is a wedding nanny ~ I am considering hiring her but im not sure, i think the music will keep them excited. I am for sure doing a "kids area" of the room. I am going for white paper to cover the "kidz area" table instead of real linens. I am putting out crayons and colorerd pencils. Im going to have bubbles, coloring books, and some "make and take" kits from the local craft store. If they dont use them my daughter can! I am not going to make it a focal point but I am going to make sure everyone knows its there so the kids have an area they can let loose if they dont want to dance. Good luck.
PS if you go to the local craft store and ask they can give you some simple inexpensive ideas to have.
