						You do not have to be certified if you live in an area where the competition is low.  If you will be in a larger city with lots of competition, you may want to become a certified wedding consultant.  You can do this through a course over the internet.  It would really help to apprentice with an established consultant/planner while in school.  Most universities don`t offer this as a major, so a good major choice would be business or marketing.  You must be a very organized, creative, detail-oriented person to do this job.  Also, you may want to work part-time in a bridal shop to truly understand the emotions involved in weddings, to see if you can actually handle these brides & their moms!

						There are several ways to get started.  Experience working for any wedding professional or vendor would be helpful.  There are certificate programs costing about $600-$1000.  I would suggest www.weddindsbeautiful.com.  They offer a program that allows you to choose your pace.  For $100 you`ll be registered to receive 1st course.  Order courses 2-18 for an additional $40 each.  There are many ways for you to earn as you learn.  Contact me if you`d like more info.  Good luck!
