Jill By Maggie Sottero

I finally found a picture of the Jill. I just bought this dress for my wedding this week. Look for picture of dress for "Jennifer`s Friends and Family" - that is the Jill dress.

Thank you for finding that photo! I`m having trouble deciding between the Jill and another gown and I`m concerned about the beading on the Jill. It really seemed to rub on my arms. Have any of you run into this?

An excellent question. I was concerned that the Jill was not as comfortable as the Symona, so I put the Jill on and wandered around the shop for half an hour. It seemed more comfortable the second time I tried it.
I didn`t notice the beading bugging me, but then, I didn`t dance in it or anything.

Is the size you are trying a size that fits you? I lost a pound or two since the last I tried it, and it seemed to be more comfortable.

What other dress are you considering?

I`m also considering the Alexandra.

I believe the Jill I tried on was the right size, but then again I have large upper arms. I have a year til the wedding so most likely I will lose some weight and tone those arms. But I`m really concerned about the beading. I felt like a half hour in the dress and I`d be rubbed raw. Bummer

Have you tried on the Sinatra? There is no picture on the website (of course), but it was a very comfortable dress, and form fitting like the Alexandra. It was my matron of honor`s favorite. It comes with a shawl, I believe. Also, what about the Brooklyn - very similar to the Jill, a little less beading.

Alexandra looks like it would be very uncomfortable.

I have bought the Jill dress for my wedding in September. I put in on twice, both times I wore it for ages and the beads didn`t rub my arms at all.
I also tried on Julie, but for me Jill was much more flattering to my figure.

I am so glad to hear that! I ordered the Jill in white with blue beading about 4 weeks ago. I guess it will be another 6 weeks at least before I see it, but I definitely thought it was one of the most flattering of the Maggie Sottero line on me, and I must have tried on 20 different Maggies. Glad my dilgence in finding that photo helped someone.

I just received my Jill dress and did not get the purse and shawl that normally comes with a Maggie Sottero. I am afraid the place that ordered it for me is trying to pull one over on me. My question to all those that received the Jill, did it come with a shawl and purse? I need to know asap!!!!!

I have the Jill dress and mine didn`t come with any accessories at all so I don`t think they`re trying to pull a fast one.

At least you all have your "Jill" by Maggie Sottero. I ordered mine in April and just got word that although the dress has been made, and although I have paid for it in full, the bridal shop that ordered it did not pay for it , so Maggie refuses to ship it. So although I ordered the dress from a "Maggie Sottero recommended retailer" (that, by the way, is still listed on their website), because the Maggie Sottero website advises not to buy their dresses online but only from retail "full service brick and mortar bridal salons" that they support, that is certainly not a guaranty that you will get the dress either, since they have refused to ship my dress for the wedding I have been dreaming of for 40 years. The wedding that is scheduled to take place in 6 weeks, without my Maggie Sottero gown.

What size dress do you need and where are you located?

I was going to ask the same thing.

Size 12, and the wonderful, thoughtful, knight in shining armour that will soon be my husband has already found one for me, but I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of your responses. I wasn`t really expecting any, but thanks for wanting to help!

Hi, I was wondering if any of you that have this dress can help me decide what kind of jewelry (headpiece, earrings, necklace...) to wear with it, crystal? pearls? silver or gold?

I wore a fairly simple crystal necklace and earrings. I put my hair up and had a comb made with pearls and crystals, with a hint of blue tone, to match the beading on the dress (which was the white with ice). Does anyone have "Jill" in light gold?

Meryle-what color Jill did you wear?

I wore the ice. It was white with pale blue beading. It really is gorgeous.

If anyone is interested, I have the stole that I never wore that I would sell (it was in the 90`s in San Fran, who would ever have guessed). New and pressed and ready to wear. Matches beautifully.
