What Are You Throwing At Church?

I am wondering, since you can no longer throw rice or birdseed. What are the options? We`re planning a November wedding so a bird release is out of the question (we are in Chicago). I`m thinking bubbles may freeze. We thought of those party poppers, but if it is wet I`m afraid the colors would run. Any ideas out there?
We found online wedding kazoos and am thinking we may do that. Not your traditional thing but kind of funny and honestly cannot think of anything else! Any ideas....remember end of November in Chicago...which means could be 70 degrees and sunny or windchill of 20 below with a foot of snow!

I read that for a fall wedding to throw silk leaves.

Try having each of your guests release 1 Balloon as you exit the church.

Thanks all, but have thought of all these. The balloons I`m told are not good for the enviroment, birds etc...are harmed. Beside this since it will be cold helium balloons do not stay up in cold air.My flowergirl will be dropping small silk leaves in church, but I don`t think we`ll be able to throw them outside....who would clean them up. I guess the flower petals would be an option though with fall flowers they would be dark colors or bright oranges etc....I am so paranoid that id it is the least bit wet, snowflurries etc I`m afraid that my dress will get stained. I`m telling you those wedding kazoos are sounding better and better. Thanks all!

What about lavender? It smells great and it blends in with the grass. If you are interested i found a few web sites that sell it pretty price efficent.

Some people hand out flowers to wave or bells to ring instead. I don`t know if you like those ideas but thought I would throw some more ideas at ya!

Good luck.

I`ve been to a wedding where we used kazoos, it was great. But we did it more out of a joke since she said she couln`t afford anything for the wedding except a kazoo band to her mom...so it was funny.

I have been to A LOT of weddings where they give out bubble blowers. You can pick them up for fairly cheap at a dollar store.

Thanks all, I thought bubbles too, but we are afraid...would they freeze if it is cold, I mean would they work? Anyway we are going with the kazoos! Different for sure, I ordered 100 white kazoos that are imprinted in gold that says "Thanks for sharing our wedding day"

Why not throw birdseed. The birds will clean it up for you.

Bubbles don`t freeze. How long are you going to be outdoors, after all? You act like your guests are going to sit outside for hours waiting for you to exit the church. Keep them inside until you are ready to use them.

A lot of churches will not allow you to throw rice, birdseed or release helium balloons. As far as who would pick up the silk leaves, etc., why, that would be YOU. At least at our church you (or someone associated with you) are responsible for leaving the church exactly the way you found it.

Melony,
W hy thank you for your input. I guess you didn`t read all the posts. I realized WE would be responsible to clean up the leaves and don`t want anyone who is associated with me to HAVE to do it. And that is why I posted that we have gone with the KAZOOS! But thanks anyway!
