18th Birthday

I am planning a debut party for my niece i do not know how to start, somebody help me pls.?

What is a debt party? I`m turning 18 in a couple months and have no idea what to do..

Hi,sorry I`m replying to your post without an answer to it. But I have a question that I`ve been wondering about for a while. What is a debut? I know that it`s basically introducing someone to the world. But what I mean is, do you have to be of a certain race or something? I have a lot of friends who have debut`s when they turn 18. But they`re all filipino, so does that mean you have to be filipino to have one?

A debut aka debutante ball

Is when a young lady turns a certain age thats considered adulthood (for filipinos its 18, for hispanics its 15, and for americans its 16) basically they are being presented to "society" (typically their friends and family) as a young lady ready to take on the world on her own.

It is very ignorant for people to ask the question, DO YOU HAVE TO BE A CERTAIN RACE? Because debutante balls are celebrated by everybody whatever color or race. A "traditional" debut for a filipino family takes place on the girl`s 18th birthday, it is usually celebrated at a hotel, country club, hall...wherever your cash flow can accomodate. There is a cottillion, 18 roses (18 close male friends, family, boyfriends: hands the debutante a rose and does the waltz for a few seconds or a minute... Almost like the money dance for a bride...minus the money), 18 candles (18 female friends and family wish you the best of luck in the future and adulthood and greets you happy birthday).... A quincenera for a hispanic family is like a debutante ball.... There are also mass debutante balls that are held by businesses or organizations (ie... Have you seen the OC on Fox... They had a mass debutante ball for the girls of Newport). So in short, please don`t be a fool... Debutante balls are for everyone. Its an expensive affair, but if you have the money... Why not?

Debutantes typically wear couture... Something a princess would wear to a ball, not what a teen would wear to prom. It is a formal occasion, where you are royalty for a night, princess for the day, and the center of attention. It is a great experience, and a lot of fun.
