NOT The REACTION I Was EXPECTING...
Perhaps someone can offer me some advice on this situation. I have an older sister who is my maid of honor, but we also have a cousin who is a year in between my sister and I. For years we have referred to each other as "SISTERS," when in reality we`re only cousins. Or cousin wed in Nov. 2001 and both my sister and I were her MAIDS of honor. My wedding is scheduled for Aug/Sept 2004, and it will include some of our Mexican customs for the religious ceremony. We have asked my fiancee`s brother and sister and their respective spouses to sponsor us. Last night we saw my cousin and her husband, and we asked them to sponsor us too! However, my cousin mentioned the fact that I had been one of her maids of honor and her husband piped in, "so am I a best man!"
I was hurt, to say the least, that they reacted that way. Afterwards, I realized maybe I should have talked to her and maybe considered her as my matron of honor, but what would her husband be. My fiancee already has his groomsmen picked out (he hasn`t asked anyone...he thinks it`s too early).
So my question is, HOW DO I HANDLE THIS SITUATION??? any tips, advice, or previous experiences are appreciated

I too have several best friends and cousins that I consider sisters, however, I have only one real older sister and she was my matron of honor at the wedding. My other "sisters" were sponsors along with their husbands. I think it is selfish of your cousin to even bring it up, after all, this is YOUR special day and things should be done as YOU wish, not what everyone else thinks! Do what is in your heart, the rest will fall into place! Good luck and God Bless you.
