Events Planning...?

Hi -- i was wondering if it would be necessary to get a degree in business if im planning on opening an events planning business?
And...
Also --- how would i go about getting into the events planning industry? ive already planned my sisters birthday party and ive just been asked to plan a wedding...but where do i go from here?
I want to plan parties, weddings, dinners, showers, the works?
