Seeking "Custom Made Dress" Advice

Hello!
I am looking for some opinions regarding online wedding shops who make custom "designer inspired" wedding dresses. Does anyone have experience or have ordered a dress from them? If you could please explain your experience to me and perhaps email me the store name you purchased it from I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time to read/respond to my question! Have a beautiful day! Christa

My experience with creating a designer-inspired wedding gown was really great. I had my dress custom-made by an eBay seller (jeffliu8000) who is located in China. I worked closely with the seller to create my wedding gown. The entire cost of my wedding gown (after alterations) was $400. Sweet!

I liked the designs of two high-end designers. I wanted both the designs incorporated into my wedding dress. My wedding gown arrived six weeks after we finalized the dress design. It was absolutely stunning! The quality of their workmanship (intricate embroidery and beading) and fabric surpassed all my expectations. The seller even sent me a veil (with a scalloped border that matched the embroidery work on my dress) and petticoat for free!

Again, this is my personal experience in having a wedding gown custom-made. I have heard of brides who did not have a positive experience. So, I guess it can be a hit or miss. I was very lucky about creating my perfect wedding gown.

If you plan to go the eBay route, make sure that you have thoroughly done your research about custom-made apparel. If you are going the eBay route, "interview" the sellers before placing an order. Ask a lot of questions, provide pictures of your dream gown/design, and be very clear about your requirements/needs. Communicate with the seller on a regular basis after you have placed your order.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

As someone who works with a custom designer to help brides order replica and customs gowns, I woiuld also advise in addition to asking a lot of questions, be aware to ask for pictures of gowns tha they have made. IF they have NOT yet made the style gown you want replicated, but are only showing the pictures from the designer`s website...you may NOT get the same quality. If they`ve been making the style you area looking for and have pictures of an actual gown they made, you can be more assured that you will get what you think you will get. My designer has been making a replica of Melissa Sweet`s LIA gown for a year now, and she`s just now getting it to actually look close to the original designer`s LIA gown. It takes a lot of making copies of a gown, and having brides who have seen the authentic gown, to get it really close to the original style!! So, yes, ask questions....AND get pictures too!

I had one custom made. I designed it myself. It ended up alright. It was not exactly what I thought I`d drawn, but of course once it was done there was no turning back.
I had first purchased a $2800 designer dress, which I decided just wasn`t for me (I had an outdoor wedding, so I needed a "disposible" sort of dress-one that could get dirty and be thrown away. A designer gown is not that type!). The quality simply isn`t comparable, but if this doesn`t matter to you there is no reason not to do it. BVe careful of the sellers in China...it`s usually sweatshop labor. There are US sellers who will also make the dress...I got mine from a woman in California and she sent pictures of it once it was done before it was shipped.
