Vases

Something i did was purchased my vases in assorted shapes but same heights--and clear. I purchased them over the past two years..at yard sales, family and friends. I dont think theyhave to be uniform since anything goes now, and unigue is in. What i am doing with my vases is filling the bottom with round gems-color is blue and mixed clear, white and silver, etc. Our wedding colors, then I added moon and star cut glass shapes. Then I added a styrofoam thin piece near the top of the vase (with holes punched in) and placed the flowers and decorations through the styrofoam. Then I added the gems and glass shapes lightly on top of the styrofoam just to cover it. Then the final touch was light. So i added tea lights (blue my theme colors) . The way i added the light was not in the vase itself-because too difficult to turn on that way. They are battery operated 2 " .well i had to figure out how to place the light under the vase. Here is what i did i found on sale for .25 cents(got lucky) christmas boxes the size of the bottom of my vases, and they had a peep hole (clear plastic center in the top) with a lid , they are heavy cardboard. Bought them at dollar general. Anway, i covered the peep hole with paper and spray painted them silver(another wedding color). Then i placed a small round mirror in the center of the bottom of the boxes. Then i placed the tea light in the center of the mirror, placed the lid on. And set the vase on top. I decided that the box needed weight too so i added some gems to the sides around the mirror in the inside of the box--for weight. Then i used velcro small pieces which i attached to the bottom of the vase and top lid of the box and waa laa i turned on the battery tea light which reflected through the peep hole and shined brilliantly from the mirror it reflected through the gems and stars and moon shapes and through the flowers. Only thing you have tohave someone turn on the battery tea lights before the ceremony--or even later in the evening when no one is watching. I was certain to purchase the tea lights with the long lasting batteries too! very important.
Good luck!
Congrats!
