Reception After You Elope

My husband & I just got married at the beginning of the month in Nevada. We really didn`t plan it, although had been talking about it. We went down for New Years by ourselves & decided to get married while there.

Here is my questions. Because it was so unplanned (although kind of romantic) we were both in jeans, no flowers, no real photos, no veil, etc. We would like to have some sort of reception now that we`re back. Most all of our friends & family no about our marriage now, but my question is, when should we have the reception. He wanted to wait until summer when the weather was nicer & we might have more money to spend. I feel that is way to long. Does anyone know the rule of thumb on when you`re supposed to have a reception after eloping? Also, is it appropriate for me to dress up & have photos? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated.

We help people create storybooks of their weddings (or receptions). It would be great to have someone take photos of each guest as they enter, so you can have that as a momento.
