Choosing My Colors
So my boyfriend and I are getting married either early Aug or Sept of `08. All of the color combos I like, he does not and vice versa. How can we choose colors for our wedding without either of us being disapointed with the decision...

Traditionally, the bride chooses the colors for the wedding. However, you should be elated that your fiancee is involved in the planning of the wedding! This is a wonderful opportunity for you guys to learn the number one rule of having a long and happy marriage....COMPROMISE.
Let him choose a color, and you pick a complimentary color...or visa versa. You both win!
Good luck and congrats!

HI,
I`m a wedding photographer and I see that lately grooms want to get much more involved in the choosing process than say ten years ago.
Once idea of having your cake and eating it too is to choose congruent colors. Find a color wheel and first choose the colors you each like outright.
Now once you have, see the colors between them. There are aat least one or two shades that are harmonious with the colors each of you choose. It makes for a pretty picture and you are both happy.
If you really want to be brave, look at the opposite colors, across the wheel. If done tastefully, with accents, opposites colors can work together well on an occassion such as a wedding.
The last suggestions takes more of a compromise. You choose the colors of the bridal party, he chooses the colors of the reception, the invitation, the flowers and so forth.
Who knows, you make work out such a good color scheme that you might take it into your new home decor.
Enjoy!

What about picking a theme together first, instead of colors? Do you have something you both would like to center the event around? We chose our song, wonderful tonight, by eric clapton, and then from there came up with a night theme..using stars and quarter moons--which them led to the silver and blues in the wedding. It worked great! It is nice your fiance` is involved in the planning, mine is as well. But as the lady said earlier compromise is very important. Also another thought is what color would your bridesmaids look well in? Not everyone looks good in orange--so too speak.
Good luck! Beccah
