Wedding Colors

Not to sound stupid, but what all does the wedding colors affect? I know that they are used in picking out the colors of flowers and of the clothes that the wedding party wears, but other than this, is there any way to incorporate them in a wedding? Most wedding decorations seem to be white and silver and gold, and it seems like it would throw things off to toss in some colored decorations (the colors we are looking at are red and blue and yellow, my fiance is a superman fan and I like those colors).

Colors affect every facet of the wedding from the attire, the invitations, linen, napkins, decorations (balloons), cake decorations, decorations on the arch, and pew bows.

So you`re not really restricted to white decorations and pew bows and all that? I haven`t been to many weddings, and just going off of what I`ve seen in magazines, that really seems like what most people use and what is really readily available.

Absolutely not, Becky! You may choose anything you wish...and I think the most memorable weddings are those which are personalized and unique (like yours will be!)

Don`t be afraid to step out of the box. If I can be of any assistance to you and your fiancee, please do not hesitate to email me directly! (My husband is a comic book fan, too!) partyplnnr@aol.com

Congrats!
We are getting married in June. We have spent the last two years planning our wedding, reception, etc.

There is not golden rule to wedding decor, they can be as unique or as simple as you both wish.

We decided to do our theme around our song.

Anything goes.

One thing i noticed some people were doing was red and white--using stuff they got on discount from christmas. Sounds cheesy, maybe? but if youre on a budget, not a bad idea--to try and not re-invent the wheel. Not just christmas themes, but other themes, using stuff that is on sale now.

We have made alot of our decorations, and silk flowers, etc our selves. We like the personal touch of it. We are spending most of our budget on the honeymoon and reception, and having as simple a ceremony as possible.

Another thing we did was i am having our gowns made by a local reputable seemstress, cheaper then off the rack, and more personal, designed ourselves.

We made up all the silks for the ceremony and the reception, including the corsages and boutineers. We threw in a little real flowers at the church and for the bride, etc. We also purchased vases of various shapes, but all the same height at flea markets, yard sales and even salvation army and are filling them with silk flowers to match the colors, and gems and battery lights (color) sitting on round boxes with peep holes with small mirrors inside to reflect up to the flowers.

Also floater bowls with candles (our theme) with food color and sit on mirrors to reflect light. I was lucky and caught a 50% off sale at hobby lobby. Lots of times you can catch on the off season sales. My boxes I used under my vases were on sale (christmas) for .25 ea and i painted them to match the color scheme. Anyway, there are lots of things you can do yourself, if youre into that. Or you can go the wedding planner route. Congrats! beccah
