Time Between Wedding And Reception

My brother is running in to a problem for his wedding day. The Church he is getting married in and the reception hall he wants times do not go together. There will be about a 2 hour gap. He would not worry too much about it but the reception hall is a golf club and they won`t allow the wedding guests even in to the clubhouse bar area to wait for thereception to start. He may have to look for a new place but really does not want to. Does anybody have any neat ideas that he can have planned for guests to do before the reception?

One option is to move the reception time up. And something prepared for the guest to eat. This will help with the time gap. Have the Dj or Band play some soft music. And with a good wedding coordinator.... He/she can help with the time table. Let me knowif I can help. I am a wedding planner.

I own a party planning business in Louisiana, and I ran into this problem with a client about a year ago. Because of savvy planning on our part, the guests were not aware of any time gap at all....They thought everything was part of the festivities! We`re from the midwest and this happens a lot of the time. What we usually do is book a local hotels hospitality room (or if you have people staying at one use that one) . Most have a family member there to be the host/hostess and make sure to have coffee, juice, soda and some "light" appetizers (veggie tray, cheese and crackers, etc.) I don`t think I`d have alcohol available that early. You don`t want them coming drunk to the reception.

These hospitality rooms usually have tv`s, seating areas, and some even have private bathrooms available. It gives everyone someplace to meet up and relax for a bit, instead of looking for someplace to waste some time.

Good luck!
