Money Tree Shower

Can I give a money tree shower for somebody who lives in another country (Germany) and comes to her homeland to get married? After the weeding they plan to go back to Germany and live there.
The shower will be held in South America

It is perfectly fine to throw a friend a money tree shower. However, the attendees are not obligated to just give money. I am sure any thoughtful gift would be acceptable to the bride-to-be!
