Best Man Vs. Best Woman

My daughter is getting married shortly and the groom would like his mom to be his Best Man. Is this done and what is the proper attire for this type of thing. I`ve never heard of this role reversal, but I`m very excited about it.

My husband had his sister as his Best Woman, she wore a dress identical to the bridesmaids, but it was in black. She loved it and so did we.
