Wedding Decorating
I`m getting married in May and I need help with decorating. I think i have the tables fiqured out (i.e: the center peices, the favours, etc) but i need help with the walls (they are so ugly) and i would like to lower the roof because my reception is being held in a gymasium. The only problem is (which i don`t consider it a problem, because i hate balloons), but my Aunt, who is also our MC is allergic to balloons. What can i do? Any ideas would be great.

To disguise the ceiling, you can use lots and lots of strings of Christmas lights, draping them from the edges of the room and having them meet in in the middle of the room. You can hook together however many strings of lights are needed to reach from the walls to the central point where they meet. Tie them together in the middle (electrical tape is a safe method) and pull the middle where ther lights join up higher than at the edges of the room. If you don`t have anything to connect the lights to in the center of the room, you could have them drape to a central point at one end (for example, a basketball hoop) instead. Then make the spot where they meet a focal point by having your head table or cake table or wedding archway - whatever! - located underneath.
I saw this done in a gym for a school dance, using lights borrowed from parents at the school. The resulting look was absolutely magical! You could use all white lights, lights that coordinate with your wedding colors (example/blue lights if your wedding is blue), or any combination of colors that you want.
Have fun at your wedding!

Use tulle, if you have a Joann Fabrics in your town, wait till it comes out on sale for 2 yards for $1.00 it is a great deal. Place the lights inside the tulle......It should be soemtime soon you should try to find some bells at the after christmas..sale.

There are rental companies that you could hire to put up pipe and drape that match your wedding colors. Also you could rent a projector and connect to a laptop and project pictures of you and your soon to be husband.
Have a wonderful wedding and a memorible rest of your lives together.
