Wishing Well - Is It Just For Money, Or For Little Gifts

I`m planning a shower for June of 2007. The bride`s family has a tradition of a Wishing Well, but not the kind I`m familiar with. The mother of the bride explained that it`s not for money, but rather for little gifts, like an ice cream scoop, a spatula, screw driver, dish towel, etc.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

How can I word that in the shower invitation that it`s in addition to a "regular" gift? Also, so that people don`t see "Wishing Well" and think it`s for cash?
