I Goofed!???

I don`t have a sister, so I asked my best friend to be my maid of honor. We`ve already had so much fun looking at dresses and planning.

The problem is rooted in an engagement I had with someone else 6 years ago. Last night my mother reminded me that I asked my only sister-in-law to be my maid of honour at that time. As that engagement ended (thankfully) before we really got into heavy planning I don`t recall ever asking her. ??? My mother INSISTS I did. Yet she sometimes remembers things differently. Truth be told I don`t remember doing it!!! I think I would remember such a thing. But now my Dad insists I did it. I do recall having said that IF I decided to have a maid of honour it would be my sister-in-law. My fiance never got as far as picking his best man, so I can`t imagine I jumped ahead and approached my SIL to be my maid of honour. I don`t remember these conversations my parents said I had!!!

Now my mother says my sister-in-law will still be expecting me to ask her to be my maid of honour again, would be hurt if I didn`t, and insulted if I asked her to be a "mere bridesmaid".

I want to ask her to be a bridesmaid. I don`t want to hurt her and I can`t UNinvite my best friend! HELP!
