Appropriate Bar Mitzvah Gift

A very close friend`s sister invited us to her son`s bar mitzvah. We don`t see the sister or son that often, maybe once a year. What would be an appropriate gift to give? It is in the metro new york area.

I`d give about $150.00 to $200.00 for the type of relationship you have with your friend`s sister. Of course it also depends on your own financial situation.

Given that this is NOT your friend, or her children and simply YOUR friends family, I wouldd think that double chai would be appropriate. I do not think you need to be as lavish since you do not have a close personal relationship with these people.
