Wedding Shower By Mail

My son is getting married in Hawaii and we live in Indiana. A wedding shower will be held in Hawaii but can`t afford to have the bride back for a shower in Indiana. Any ideas in having a wedding shower thru the mail. A collection of recipes is one thought, anything else would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had a shower by telephone but it wasn`t a bridal shower, it was right before my first son`s birth. I wasn`t able to be "home" so all of my family who still lived in my home town got together (including all of the men in my family) and had it on the weekend. They hooked up the speaker phones and had the shower there. Now adays (as I`m preparing for my youngest son`s engagement party.) you could use video to tape the shower and do the same kind of thing... Have everyone there on speaker phone and have her on the other end and tape it or use a camera via computer so that she is on the computer at the other end watching it as its going on - same on your end.

Hope this helps. Feel free to write back if you`d like. Good luck and God bless.

Try a Kitchen shower where everyone Brings a item for the kitchen like Dish Towels, Dish Cloths, Spatulas, Wisks, Etc. To make it more exciting you could include letters with there invitations for them to pick something that starts with that letter.
Hope this Helps.

I have a cousin I am close with in Co. He is engaged to a wonderful gal but all of his family (my cousin) live in the midwest. So I am going to mail invitations to the female family members asking them to participate in a shower by mail to show my cousin`s fiancee that we are really excited to invite her into the family. I will have the guests mail a gift to my cousin during a particular week then when she goes to visit him that Saturday there are a pile of shower gifts from all of us for her to open. So far this is the best idea I have. I will probably add a recipe card to the invitations to make it feel more like a shower.

I recently attended a Bridesmaid`s get together via mail. There is this Chick Flick Kit for Bridesmaids (feel like I work for them after I suggest them so much, but they have the CUTEST gifts). In a nutshell, each kit has theatre candy, chick chocolates, margarita mix, wedding themed sachet, etc. PLUS a wedding themed Chick Flick. The concept is to ship one to all attendees when you aren`t in the same town and every body opens them on an assigned afternoon and watches the movie "together". We ended up on a conference call with each other during the movie to share "remember whens" and it really was a lot of fun.
