Pronovias Oleaje

I am wondering (since website doesn`t list price) if any one knows how much the 2007 style Pronovias "Oleaje" dress costs? I saw it in Brides mag. And then went to the website. .. Their gowns are the best I have ever seen and I have to have this dress.

Thanks for any help.

That`s so great that you got to see and try on the dress. They don`t have it out yet here in the US, not until Dec/Jan and my wedding is coming up in May so I`d have to order within the month. I`m trying to see if I should just go for it and order it without ever seeing it in person. For any of you who`ve tried it, how does it fit, how`s the fabric, and do you like how it looks in person? Is it even anything like it looks in the picture? Just curious. Thanks!

I have tried the Oleaje in ivory, I am a UK size 8-10, the sample dress was a 12 so it was difficult to appreciate the shape. The dress was a lot heavier than it looks in the picture, I also thought that in ivory the detail you can see on the picture is lost. You would have to be the right shape and really like that type of dress to really like it. I decided against this dress and would stress that you really need to try it before you order.

Thanks for the input Claire! It was helpful. I`d love to hear anyone else`s experience? And does anyone know the color of the dress in the photos?

Hi Ann, i am usually a size 8 Australian, I tried on the gold i am told. I actually contacted the pronovias website to ask them, which colour is which. When you open up the pronovias website, there is a dark haired girl in a white oleaje.....i think and then if you search the pages under 2007 make your choice there is a blonde wearing the dress in what seems to be ivory.... But i have a feeling it is gold...... I absolutely love the dress, however, they do not have the dress in any other colour than gold here in australia. I am being told that i need to order the dress asap, my wedding is also in May next year........ The thing is i think it looks fantastic in gold....... But does a bride really wear gold.......and in white it looks like a completely different gown (or so it does in the picture......) imagine if you purchase it in another colour....and it is not what you expected it to be.......believe you me i am having many a sleepless nights at the moment....... I dont know what to do.......?

Oh ann,,,,,,, i forgot to tell you that i actually think the dress looks fabulous in person.....however i am going to eliminate the straps on it to make it strapless and i also want to pinch the neckline down slightly to make it appear more of a heartshape....i think it gives you a better bust and neck line.......i think its fabulous.......im just scared about the colour....because like claire said.........if it is the wrong shade of white,,, ithink it might look pretty bright and less attractive

Thanks for the input Leah! I totally know how you feel about not being able to sleep over it. With our weddings being in May, it bites to have to feel the pressure to order early and making a blind choice. I`m just glad that I don`t feel alone in this, so I appreciate all that you ladies have shared.

Leah, I`d love to talk to you more about your experience with the dress. Do you have an email addess I can contact you at?

I`m curious, for those who`ve tried it on, is the lace on the dress just simple, one dimentional lace or does it have a shimmer to it, the way other styles in their line do? I remember trying on another dress, the Galilea, in ivory and it was an awesome color because the lace was more subtle than the picture but the shimmer interwoven in the lace made it look awesome.

Hello ANN
Just wondering where it was that you were quoted the $1100? You say it is in dollars so I am assuming you are in the states?

Hello Ladies.. So we don`t have the OLEAJE out in most shops in the US, but I went to the only bridal shop that had it for a while, but they had sent it back because the "gold" Oleaje didn`t look right. The lace was very orange and they said you could see the seaming underneath. They didn`t like how it was made, so they returned it. They had me try on a dress that was very similar in an ivory color, with the exact same top, but it didn`t look right on me, so I`m sticking to the original dress I planned to order, the GALILEA from the 2006 line, which is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for all your advice!

Laila, I did get the Oleaje quoted to me at $1100 (which I believe is about 532 british pounds). It was at a local dress shop. But for any of you ladies looking to order pronovias.. I have a really hot tip for you. I was about to order the dress at an online dressshop based out of San Diego, CA. They give you about $200-$400 less than the quoted retail shops on dresses they carry and they`re very reputable and registered at the Better Business Bureau. They quoted the Oleaje to me for $990 plus shipping. So you girls might want to check out that site and get a free quote. Don`t know their policy for shipping overseas, but if you want to save tons of money at a reputatable shop, you can check out their site at www.rsvpbridal.com. Hope that helps! I know how crazy and expensive this wedding planning can get!

Hi ann, Thats great that you have made up your mind.
Yesterday i purchased the oleaje - in gold. I found that that ivory and white were too light for me, because i am quite dark in complexion. It is true what they said about the dress being slightly see through - i am having alterations made to the dress, to add a matching skirt and tale underneath, which will sit precisely as the top layer....but it will act as just another layer....... It really did look gorgeous. I had a lot of other brides in store saying how they didnt see that dress outside before, and that it really was stunning. I have paid $2000 australian for the dress, we knocked off $279 because another bridal boutique said they could bring it in for $2000 exactly. Then we had the issue of them saying that the extra organza layer beneath the skirt and added tule and what ever other re - sizing amendments i would require would incurr an additional fee. I also negotiated all alterations not to exceed $200. Which is pretty good considering initially they wanted something like $750. I said to my mother, i love the dress, im willing to add $1000 to it to make it perfect. It really is quite unique.
I also wanted to let you know that there is another dress on the market, which is nearly identitical, however the colour is actually ivory, and there are know beatuiful buttons that run the length of the back like the pronovias. But none the less the dress is beautiful....it is called ......LA SPOSA - SALOME.....It is the absolute closest dress to the oleaje. Trust me anne i have been on the net for maybe 25 hours at night this week....hehehehhehe....if you need any more help my email is .....ltgroup@dodo.com.au

Hi Ladies -

I just found your posts and wanted to share my experiences. I am located in Boston, MA in the States and I purchased the Oleaje dress in Gold. I ordered it in August for $1250 USD and it arrived last week! I went with the gold becuase it went best with my skin tone. The white and ivory were too pale for me and washed me out. Next to other bridal gowns, the dress does look very yellow, but on, it did not stand out much that it was a darker color. I absolutely love it!

I will actually be removing a layer of tulle from the skirt because I felt it was rather "poufy" and I want a more streamline dress. I agree that the white dress in Brides and online looks nothing like it does in Gold. I definitely recomend that you try it on in various colors before ordering. If your area only carries it in gold, then try on a different Pronovias dress in white or ivory to get an idea of what the color will look like on you.

Best of luck!

Hi, Its so good to hear, that someone else has also purchased the oleaje in Gold. I to purchased the dress. I would say i tried on maybe 50 dresses and nothing compared to the oleaje (on me that is).
Just wanted to ask you. What are you going to do about a veil. Im finding it so hard to find one that compliments the dress. Im not planning on wearing it all night though. And....found any nice shoes to match also.... Here in Australia its so hard to find shoes that aren`t in ivory or white..... Its driving me insane.
Keep me posted with any ideas.
Thanks girls

Hi Leah -
It is nice to know someone else also got the dress in gold. I was hesitant at first, but I know it was the best for me. As for veils...I did purchase mine already. It is a cathedral length, sheer veil. Very plain, absolutely no details. I`m not sure of the fabric but it is very light and fluid. The color is "Butterscotch" as it`s from a different designer but it matches the Pronovias "Gold". I found that shorter veils cut the dress and veils with any details took away from the beautiful train. As for shoes, I am also uncertain. I am picking up the fabric swatch to the dress this weekend and hoping that helps me narrow down the color options. I`m thinking a faded metallic gold strappy sandal might work. Or dyables. Feel free to contact me with any other questions, it`s really great to hear your thoughts as well!

Hi guys;
Just found out about your thread and wanted to share my experience with this Oleaje dress. I am from Australia and just bought this dress yesterday for $2100 which come with free alterations. I love this dress. I decided with Ivory and decided to go for strapless. My wedding is in April. The sale lady said she could get it her in March so hopefully it gets here on time and in good conditions or else i would be so stuffed. Lol.

Hi Girls,

Its so great to hear that you too have purchased the oleaje. Its such a stunning dress. Im just having trouble finalising other things, like flowergirl dresses, shoe colour, veil and ribbons for candles. The only dissapointing thing about pronovias is that, you have to wait for your dress to arrive in store before you proceed with other details for the wedding. Im really really stuck because i dont have a fabric sample to actually use to compare with. I actually emailed pronovias to request a tiny sample of the organza and they did not respond. Its very hard. This might sound like an unusual request but if possible i would be ever so grateful if you could send me out the smallest piece of the gold organza, as im completely unable to obtain a sample through my stockist. Ive even ask them to pay a hire fee for their sample dress for a day, so i could match some colours to it...But i cant. My email is ltgroup@dodo.com.au I would appreciate it so much if you could do this for me!

Many thanks Leah

Hello Ladies,

I`m from Toronto, Ontario - and recently bought this dress - in gold, $1100 CDN. In reading this thread, I must say, WE ALL have GREAT tastes =) It is absolutely stunning, and I cannot wait until it arrives!

Please feel free to throw in ideas about the veil - it`s still early for me (wedding not until March, 2008), but I would love to hear what you ladies have to say about it. I`m so excited and have absolutely no regrets about the dress... I LOVE IT! =)

Hi Kristine,

Just wondering if the $1100 includes taxes or not. If not, how much would the final total come up to be?

Hello to my Oleaje lovers!!!!!!!! I decided to get online tonight because my fiance is on the couch fast asleep and i typed in Pronovias to see if anything was listed about this dress..."the dress"... And i was right!!!! This is the dress of my dreams and as i sat here and read all of your posts about the color thing i was laughing to myself because i am kindove in the same situation!!!!Well a brief description about this dress and how i found it and all that....about 4 months ago i was looking through another bridal magazine and i saw the most beautiful dress ive ever seen!!! It still takes my breath away when i see that picture!!!!! Well i called the bridal boutique that sells Pronovias in my area and sure enough she said the dress i was describing to her (i didnt know the name) was the one she fell in love with in Barcelona. I guess she went to the fashion show which is way cool but anyway the dress came in and i was the first one to try it on!!!!!The only thing was is that it was in gold!!! Of course my future mom in law and the bridal shop owner love the color on me but i am going to travel to see the ivory in person!!!! The gold is gorgeous but i fell in love with the ivory in the magazine!!!
Does anyone think that they look very different from eachother??????? I read someone`s post and said the detail in Ivory gets lost????
Please help!!!!!

I have actually bought this dress for myself this past weekend! I tried it on in the light gold color and loved it! The detail stands out so much better than the ivory or white. The details blends in too much on the ivory. To me, the gold color is much softer looking! I am in love with my dress!!!

Hey ladies,

I haven`t tried it on yet, but I`m in LOVE with this dress. My wedding isn`t until September 2008, so I`m wondering if anyone is thinking of selling their gold Oleaje after they use it. I`m a size 8 in street clothes, so I think 10-12 is what I`m looking for. I`m planning on going to try it on in the meantime, but I wanted to put it out there to see if anyone`s interested. Thanks!
