Canadian Midevil Wedding
Ok, Heres the storey ... PLEASE READ AND ASSIST IF POSSIBLE!!!
I recently bcame engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. We have everything in common and have since day one. The only problem is that we have both agreed on having a midevil wedding and can not find too many websites on them. I need to order a wedding dress in midevil theme (preferrably in white, which seems to be an impossible task for this theme) and, well, basically, I need everything ....
Everything and anything anyone can let me know of would be the greatest help. The wedding is in a little over a year (to be held in the summer of 2004).
Thank-you everyone!
XOXO

I too am have a midevil wedding and have bumped into the same problem you have. If you find anything, let me know and I will share info with you as well. What sucks more, is that our budget is stiff.

If possible, try looking for a seamstress to make your dress, that way you can choose fabric, colour, style, everything. You can go to a fabric store and look at pattern catalogues (don`t forget to look at the sections for halloween costumes, they may prove to have some midieval style dresses). Good luck

Here are a few links that I have found just by doing an advanced search
Http://www.enchantedcostumes.com/medieval_wedding_gowns.shtml
Http://www.apryl-knight.com/dresses.html
Here are just a few for dress ideas (and some will even deal with us canadians!)

Also don`t forget if you go custom made you can go any color you`d like
For goblets at the head table check out royal selangor pewter
Ideas just off the top of my head are (and I`m not sure if they`d fall into period or not) for centerpieces instead of flowers go to yard sales, second hand stores ect and find big heavy glass bowls (silver ones if you can find them) and fill them with grapes and maybe rose petals strewn on the table ...capes for all the bridal party would be awsome.. Flowers in all the bride`s attendants with them wearing it down and wavy/curly or half up and half down possibly...anything with celctic design seems to come across as medievil also.. I think I have seen invitations with this theme on them! Other than that surf surf surf...if one phrase doesn`t pull up much use different wording or phrasing...
But all your work will be worth the effort for all of your guests...they`ll LOVE it!
If you want to chat back and forth for more ideas (sometimes it helps) would love to be of help! I`m also in the middle of planning my own wedding and just love to look at all the sites for different ideas and have come across quite a few things..you might trigger off one of memories of a site if I know a little more :) Suns_Angel@hotmail.com

I was looking through mid-evil dresses just today. The best link I`ve found is http://store.yahoo.com/highlandrags/swordsarmor.html. They are very reasonably priced and have quite a few in white. Hope this helps!

All of you who are having problems finding websites for midevil weddings should try doing your searches using "Medeival weddings". When spelled correctly, I`m positive your searches will be much more fruitful.

Most brides did not wear white until after the middle ages. The preferred color was blue. I saw a great dress from Buffalo Breath.com that was white and was about to get it until I researched it further. We are now making our dresses. Butterick has some easy patterns. We are "jazzing" them up by adding a cape with the trinity knot on the back near the hem. Go onto galileogowns.com and you will see how pretty it is. If you can sew or know anyone who can you will save tons of money. They want $700 for the train alone. I figure I can make it for around $50 including the pearls.

Really Phoenix?! Is that a canadian bound company>? You guys have been a tremendous help! Keep those great idea`s coming.
B.T.W. I noticed that their brides did not wear all white either ... Although it was part of my aggreement. I still wanted to hold the traditional bride look by wearing white, but the one I have een looking at hold traces of silver in it and really, wow, It`s one of those dresses that would light up a room. Minor alterations will have to be made but the dress after some alteration costs should be about 200 canadian. Are you buying fabric for your brides maid(s) and are you useing some kind of pattern?! if so, where can you get one.
Thank you thank you thank you!

Butterick is a pattern company you should be able to find in any fabric store. Look in costumes section of the book, they have tons of period clothing patterns. I chose a very simple dress with that "puddles" on the floor with a cape that comes from the shoulders. I am having difficulty finding the fabric that I want though. I want a panne` velvet in blue with gold contrast lining the sleeves and the trinity knot on the cape would be in silver and gold lined with pearls. Panne` velvet in the US runs $5.00 per yard. The dress/cape takes 10 yards. Not bad. I just can`t find the blue I want.

Hello everyone,
What great ideas everyone has shared! I`m a professional Wedding Consultant not far from you, Coryelle, and would be happy to assist you in any way you may need.
I`m also a seamstress and I specialize in custom wedding gowns. We just got a client who wants a medieval wedding theme, so this is foremost in our thoughts right now. Her wedding is in August 2004 and we`re going with a garnet & ivory color scheme. We`ve got a lot of other great ideas for that theme, as well as many others.
Good luck to you and the other brides with your wedding preparations!

I see someone`s already posted my wedding page link (http://www.apryl-knight.com/my_wedding.html) - I had a Renaissance/Celtic wedding, and all my info is on that page. I also make custom jewelry, mostly Renaissance-inspired, if you`re still looking for accessories - http://www.merlinandmorgana.com
Good luck, and congrats!
