Looking For Sponsors For My Wedding

I am in a dilemma!!!!!!! I finally met Mr. Right and we are planning to marry in March of 2008. However, I am rapidly realizing that my dream wedding comes with a HUGE price tag. Actually it`s turning my dream into a nightmare. That`s where you can help! I am looking for local sponsors to help expense my dream day by donating their services, time, advise, discounts or whatever else they can offer up. While I have been dreaming about this day long before I even met my Fiancé, the planning is full of surprises. Since, I knew that my Daddy would bare the brunt of the bill, I hadn`t felt the need to peek at the overall costs. Unfortunately, my Dad passed away two years ago and now it is up to my Fiancé and I to finance to entire wedding. What we expected to be a bit of a heavier load is now weighing us down. With that being said, this is our public appeal. Again, any suggestions, services, time, etc. Will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading,

I agree with CEB. My daughter eloped last December. Now she wants to get divorced. I had a wedding reception for them in my yard for under $4500 in July. I`m married 25 years, paid for my own wedding. Surely not gonna pay for yours. By the way we had about 165 people. Got a great caterer if you need.

To CEB & Robin,

Firstly I would like to thank the both of you for replying to my message. I know that people will probably look at it as me trying to get something for nothing but this is not the case. As I stated, I`m also (more logically) looking for someone to offer a discount, advice or a referral to someone or someplace where I may be able to get the best bang for my buck. I would greatly appreciate this.

Robin, I would love the Name/Number of your caterer. Also, If you know a resonably priced reception venue I would be delighted to hear your suggestions.

CEB, I wish you much luck and sucess in your marriage.

Thanks again,
Pam, Bklyn, NY

Unfortunately I can`t help you. I live in the Midwest, you live in NY. My caterer won`t deliver that far. Try American Legion Posts (a lot of them will let you rent places - even not being a vet). Look at local caterer`s in the phone book. We had an outside reception in my yard (rented tents, porta potties, cd music, catering). You have to use your imagination. Anything`s possible.
Sry about getting down on you, but you need to reword your message just a tad.
Hope all goes well.

Hello i just wanted to mention that i doo understand what you are going through. I also have to pay for my own wedding and i am 23 with a 6 year old and a 1 year old. I know its hard but if you look into local women`s clubs and elk lodges they are usually cheaper than banquet halls. Also we are cooking for about 120 guests ourselves as well as making favors, flower arrangements, invitations, and a few other things ourselves. This may sound corny and time consuming but believe me it really helps cut down the costs without sacrificing quality. Plus for me atleast i feel my wedding will be that much more special because i`ve worked really hard for my special day. -good luck!

Sorry to hear that your dream wedding might be as you would want it. I am a daddy`s girl and still he is only paying for half. Reasoning being is I am a big girl and this is our day and I feel it`s our job to throw our event. I am the mother of a 2 year old and we just moved 3500 miles away from our family to the place we love and wanted to raise our family. At first we hear it big time about them not coming to the wedding if we don`t get married there in WA..we live in FL. But after about 4 months and they saw we weren`t coming back and were planning our wedding here. Everyone is jumping on a plane and coming. Now it`s up to me to plan everything and do everything in a week (Bridal shower/rehearsals and wedding/day after wedding brunch etc). Sofar I am doing good and keeping money down buy going to proflowers.com and having my flowers done that way instead of a flower shop here (saves about $1,000) building our own dance floor instead of renting one (building it 500.00 renting 1200.00, then you can sell it at the end) using our back yard instead of a hall (0 instead of 2000.00) Music (100 instead of 1,000) you get the point you can go BIG if you just do it yourself..Other then time you can do the same things your self and save a lot of money..forget the planner they take over the dream

Hi, I think many ppl can relate to having to pay for there own wedding. My fiance has been working 80 hours per wk for the last 6 months to pay for our wedding , April 2007. I also have been working an average of 55 hours per wk to help. I think it`s pretty tacky to ask for "help" on an internet site. Work harder like the rest of us, or change what your "dream wedding " involves. I also agree that you should be happy you found Mr. Right. Just voicing my opinion.

Thanks again to all who took the time to reply. I have indeed gotten a lot of great ideas. As far as the smaller and more detail-oriented things, I am really great at that and I even do this for others as a side business. With that being said, I will be making all of my own invitations, programs, favors and bouquets. Although the bouquets are the only items I haven`t done before, I am sure that they will come out great. Especially since I`m into simple floral arrangements. As for ceremonial decor, it will be minimal and I am looking into renting silk arrangements instead of real ones, which will just be discarded and ultimately a waste of money. This was suggested to me by a friend and sounds like a good idea. The main problem in NY is that EVERYTHING is so darn expensive. And most places at a reasonable rate are both very old and worn (ripped chairs and leaning tables type of worn) or charge separately for everything and before you know it you have a pretty hefty tab (for the basics). As far as having it in a backyard, this is an excellent idea but those types of yards are a rarity in the city. I`ll have a better chance of finding a loft in NYC. If anyone has any NY ideas, please let me know.

Hey, my daughter is now filing for divorce. Won`t get into the details. Be careful girls. Sometimes thigs go wrong. Anyway, backyard weddings are great and you don`t always need that much space, but in March, in NY, not a good idea. I saw in one of your responses that you checkd out a few places, but chairs torn, etc. Another idea, check with your church. A lot of times they rent out their community rooms, etc. I`ve been to quite a few of those. Decorations, go to the party outlet stores in your area. I still suggest that you go to a florist that is BIG (like seling xmas trees, huge plants etc). Your`re gonna get a better deal from them versus just a florist (not condemning them) because they deal in quantity. Places like Sam`s club (sure you`ve got one in NY) or your top notch grocery stors (we have jewel - it might be Albetoson`s by you?)for your cake. Anyway, you`ll make it work. Please keep in touch. You`re gonna do fine.

Ok I was wondering did you ever get any help in paying for your wedding? I am in the same boat... Lost my job 2 months ago... Wedding planned, invites out and no clue how we are going to finish paying it off.. I have 2 months to figure it out and have been applying everywhere for work so please don`t say "get a job, pay for your own wedding" I have heard that so much!!! I have been searching for a sponsor... We live in Ohio and it seems anyone willing is in Large cities that do not want anything to do with an Ohio wedding. I was just wondering if this Bride did finad anyone or does anyone know of any sponsors in Ohio?
