PUERTO RICAN WEDDING TRADITION

I am looking for any information regarding "copias" which are attached to a bridal doll at the head table (for a puerto rican wedding) and given out to guests at the reception. My mother is making the bridal doll, but I`m not sure about the "copias". Can anyone tell me more about this custom and where they can be found?

Hi. Capias are actually boutonniers (sp.?) made by the bride`s family to be given out during the reception to all the guests. They usually have a small round lace backing (although it could be any size/shape/fabric. Glued to the center of the backing can be anything wedding related (i.e. Gold or silver colored plastic wedding rings, doves, brides and grooms, wedding bells or (in my case - small silk rosebuds). Also glued to the capia is a ribbon imprinted with the bride and groom`s names on one end and the wedding date on the other. Typically the ribbon matches the colors of your wedding party. You can get very creative with a glue gun and stuff from a craft store. At the reception, you, your groom and your bridesmaids approach guests and pin the capia on them while thanking them for attending. It`s a nice little souvenir. Hope that helps! C.
