Surprise Fish Party
My dad turns 50 in September. I am throwing him a surprise party in August. I have already booked the hall, the DJ, and thought about food. We are going to have chicken, potatoes, spagetti, salad and cake. For his gift i am having a video of old pictures and film made. My problem is, What about decorations (the theme is fish), and what to do during the party. I am also making candy bar wrappers as pary favors. Can anyone help? THere will be about 60 people.
Thank you

Sara,
Oriental Trading has great fish decorations both tropical and real fish. There is also a website that carries several different strings of lights for the fishing theme. It is www.cheesylightscom. A fish pinata would be fun even for adults. You can also set up a fishing booth as easy as draping blue fabric over a divider or tall chairs and have people throw lines over to catch prizes. Drape fishing nets along the walls with some of the string lights and put fish buckets on the tables as candle holders or misc. Centerpieces. Have everyone dress in fishing gear-hip waders, fishing hats and vests, etc. It could be a lot of fun!

I have a catalogue that has a lot of fish related items that you can use as centerpieces and favors and for your decor. You might want to also buy netting and put it over a back wall. If you are interested please give me a call or email me so that I can get a mailing address so I can get this catalogue out to you.

Sara,
Any luck on the fishing party? My dad is turning 60 this month and my sister and I are throwing a surprise fish party too!!! Weird!!! I am purchasing fishing hats for everyone to wear and we bought a pinata and will be filling it with lures, and rubber worms and other fun stuff (He has a lot of fishing buddies). He lives on a lake and his buddy is taking him out fishing while my sister and I decorate. When he heads in he`ll be surprised to see everyone on the shore!!! Please let me know if you have any more ideas. Oriental trading has quite a bit of favors with a "fish theme." Good luck!

Hi,
You know, pinatas are also functional just as decorations. I had a first birthday party for my daughter last year and we hung fish and sun pinatas all over the ceiling. They are big and make a huge impact on appearance as soon as people enter the room. Also, if you want to put some sweedish fish in little fish bowls for people to snack on, that`s cute too. I also used Goldfish crackers.
