Harris Airbrush Watercolors

I have 2 framed airbrushed watercolors of ballerinas signed Harris, on the heel of one looks like AD, on the backs are labels with numbers, only one mostly readable, either 7377 or 1377 at the bottom of the label is N. D. Inc N (Y?)
Can anyone tell me anything about this artist?

Harris is the name of the artist and the ND stands for Newman Decor out of New York. There are lots of different subjects from fishing scenes to Still Lifes. I have several in my collection and just recently picked up 2 more.
They can range in price as I bought my first one for $1 and have paid up to $250 for the larger ones. They come in various sizes. There are different artists who worked for ND and they are signed with their names.
They were originally sold as accessories to furniture suites in Department Stores in the late 40`s and early 50`s. They are similar to Turner Prints of the same era.

Hope that helps. I love them a lot and continue to collect them.

I have just inherited 2 Harris watercolors and see that you own a collection of them. Do you know this artist`s first name and where I can learn more about him/her? Thanks! Dianne

I don`t know the artists first name and have just the information from the tags that are on the back of some of the pictures. I continue to find them in different places and have just purchased 3 more.

May I ask what price you have paid recently for the pieces? This would give me an idea of how to insure them. These 2 pieces are still life scenes with scored bamboo wood frames. Thanks! Dianne

I just bought 2 Chinese themed ones that are about 27 X 23 fro $50 dollars. The most I have paid was for a large one in an Antique store and that was $250.

Hello

I bought a very pretty framed picture yesterday. The frame is made of wood, I believe with mirrored inlays, the picture is a still life of a bouquet of flowers. The paper it is on looks textured up close. It has the word "Harris" on it and N.D, Inc. With a label and a number on the back. It is just screaming 40s or 50s style. I love it and know nothing about the artist. Learned a little here today...how do you know if it is airbrushed? Mine looks like a cheesy print but up close it could very well be airbrushed like the ones mentioned here. The mirror frame is what makes this picture so very pretty!!! I bought it for $20, now I`m in love with it and wonder it it is worth more that that. Any ideas?
