Best Friend`s Wedding

My best friend of 10 years is getting married on May 22, 2004. Her fiance picked the date and she really didn`t get a say in it. It so happens that that day is also my college graduation. Because she was afraid it would be too much for me to handle she didn`t ask me to be a bridesmaid. She had asked me to be her personal attendant. Well because I am also engaged we have been doing a lot of planning together and she said she felt bad that I wasn`t in her wedding party. She told me the other night she wanted me to be her Maid of Honour. The thing is she already has a Matron of Honour and three bridesmaids. She said I`d help with all the wedding planning and then her Matron of Honour would help her the day of the wedding. Is this an acceptable thing to have two Maid/Matrons of Honour?

I think it is acceptable, I am having two Matrons of Honor in my wedding. A wedding can be whatever you want it to be. I have two close friends that I have been friends with for years so I asked them both to be so there would be no hurt feelings. I don`t like one more than the other so it seemed appropriate. I do have 3 bridesmaids in addition. I think it should be what she wants and if tradition doesn`t agree, oh well, its her wedding she should do as she likes.
