David`s Bridal – Davenport Iowa
My niece is getting married on the 19th of August (at this point 1 week away). She is in the Navy and purchased her dress in California from David`s Bridal. The dress was then shipped to Davenport Iowa to be altered when she was home on leave. Yesterday we went to the store for a final fitting and much to our dismay the dress was several inches too small. The people there were very rude and the costs to have it altered were outrageous due to the short time allowed for altering. This turned into every bride`s biggest nightmare! She was willing to purchase a different dress, but we were told that we weren`t allowed to try one on without having a clerk with us and they were all booked up for the rest of the day. That seemed strange to me as all of the fitting rooms were empty. My niece was very distraught and in tears and the people at David`s Bridal were nothing but rude and not at all understanding. My niece is stationed on a ship based in San Diego and this was the earliest she could be home to get the final fitting. I am outraged that anyone could be treated as she was yesterday and very angry that a handful of people have the power to ruin a wedding without a second thought. Thankfully, there is another wedding shop just down the road called Celebration. The people there were wonderful and went out of their way to make my niece a happy bride. I can`t say enough nice things about the woman who helped us. They even gave us a 20% discount even though they knew we were going to buy the dress. I would NEVER recommend David`s Bridal and am hopeful that we will be able to contact someone at corporate to lodge our complaint. It`s very discouraging to hear so many complaints from all over the U.S. And yet there are no changes in the management of these stores. Again, if you have a choice on bridal shops, do NOT rely on David`s Bridal. Hopefully, my niece will be able to sell the dress from David`s Bridal on ebay. Right now, all the dress AND David`s Bridal represent are bad memories.
