Well the tiempo de vals is so played out practically al the 15 i go to play that song! seriously! there one from this guy julio iglesias de nina a mujer (father/daughter dance) also one of my songs that im having my court dance is from servando y florentino te regalo la luna!
Oh and if ur doing a 15 there asong called quinceanera from thalia

To be honest wiht you a "gangsta" theme is so unformal and lacks in Quinces elegance. You should rethink this.

Should you invite the parents? With a question like that I`m not quite sure you are deserving of a quinceanera. I think you aren`t grasping what a quinceanera is all about. It is a beautiful tradition that should be carried on but the true meaning becomes lost with the planning of the "party". It also doesn`t make you a woman afterward. It is a coming of age, a stepping stone of sorts. You are no longer a child. You are now a young lady. The Mass should be of equal if not greater importance. Who will be buying the damas dresses? Who will be giving the escorts money for the tuxedos? The parents? Ahhh........
Pachucos/zoot suits are unacceptable for a true "quinceanera". The theme you speak of sounds like a fun "party" but it truely isn`t for a quincenera.

Hi Maribel...I apologize if I offended you and I think you are absolutely right abouting getting the facts. Lets start with you getting the facts about what Quincenearas are all about. I am sure someone will post the true meaning if you really want the facts. Have a great quince. You`re fifteen only once so enjoy.

There are several parts in the whole of this event, starting with a Holy Mass in which your Court of Honor and parents accompany you. You do a prayer of dedication, renew your baptismal vows, and give an offering of fresh roses to the Virgin Mary/Guadeloupe, among the standard Catholic Mass. This means you are now a woman to God and your parish. Afterwards, there is a large reception with a DJ in a hall or other big space. Your Court of Honor traditionally consists of fourteen couples and then you and your Chambelane de Honor make fifteen, each couple representing a year in your life. Nowadays this is a hard task to get so many people, half of whom are unfamiliar with the custom, to commit to standing up, pay for their fancy attire, and attend all dance practices. The Damas, or ladies, all wear the same dress, usually a color complimenting the quinceanera`s dress. The Chambelanes, or gentleman, rent tuxedos and wear ties or bow ties matching the damas` dresses. They practice the waltz, a presentation ceremony, and if desirable, another choreographed dance, for ex. In mine we did a merengue. Then we do the final show, usually with encore. There is also a father/daughter dance, and the changing of the shoes. You wear flat shoes until the party, when your father changes them to heels. Both of these symbolize that he accepts your transition to womanhood. You also give a porcelain doll to your younger sister, representing your last toy.

I dont think that its even really a theme because u know all that is gonna happen is that they are gonna wear the zoot suits and the sunglasses. So to me its not really a theme but I have no other word for it.

A good song for a father/daughter dance would be ``De Nina A Mujer ``by Julio Iglesias. Oh yeah,try looking for a vals called``Vals Fascinacion``,or Marcha Triunfal de Aida,they are really nice songs,and i should know cause some party that i went to,those songs were played,and everyone loved it.Hope you take my advise.

Hey what are you doing for the recuerdos? are u making them or buying them? i dont know what im gonna do so im asking for suggestions.. O yea and what are you gonna serve at the cena? everyone over here where i live alwayz serves birria con arroz and beans. So yea i think sumthin different would be cool.

For my recuerdos Im buying them. I think Im buying them in Mexico because the ones I`ve always seen and the ones I want I dont think they sell here. They`re like little glass things. I want them to be glass Calla Lilies cuz thats the kinda flower Im gonna use. For the food I think Im gonna serve mole con pollo y arroz. I dont know wat other things Im gonna serve like potato salad, etc. Im not sure.

For my quince im only gonna have chambelanes cuz my vals instructer was tellin me that on my quinceanera it truly is suppose to be me the one who shines that night and not other girls with there hair and nails done and all that good stuff that im suppose to show off. I guess he kinda made a point and well i hope it turns out hella cool that way.

Yeah the recuerdos are nicer in Mexico. Finally someone who calls them recuerdos cuz everyone else is calling them capias. For the vals I wanna do Tiempo de Vals by Chayanne and for the father/daughter dance I wanna do La Ultima Muneca cuz it sounds nice. Thats cools about just the chambelanes (less expensive too) but I`ve never senn it done like that so I wouldnt know wat to do.When is ur quince? My b-day is April 19

Ok like what song should be the first one played to get the dance started? I think i want something like a cumbia to get everyone up and dancing. Mariana......when do you go to mass?

La santa misa is at 2 and usually lasts about 45 mins.
Then after that we usually go cruising in a limo for about 30 mins. Or an hr. Then we go to the salon and we greet and recieve the people that come and thank them for the gifts till the real thing begins.

I dont wanna have a star theme no more. I think everything was just getting on my nerves cuz i was mixing too much stuff in. Anywayz my colors are now navy, light blue, and touches of yellow. 7 of my damas are gonna wear navy and the other 7 are gonna wear light blue. The guyz are gonna wear black zoot suits and my chambelan is gonna wear a white one. My dress is gonna be white. I want to hav yellow tulips. Any other ideas that u hav would be great!

Hey does suck about the salon where u havin them. But everyone thinks diffrently. Well my colors are goin to be white with gold cause over here everyone uses blue in theres. Yea i know the zoot suit rule is so stupid. Yea well for my friends quinceanera, one of the chambelanes came in his pachuco and he got kicked out just because of that. Hey should i make my quinceanera invitation only? i know that i`ll get critiziced a lot because of that, but heres what im worried about..last week there was a quinceanera here at the same salon where im doing my quinceanera at and it was not invitation only and 4 neighborhood gangs,ESL,Humphry,18thSt,And Sur13 started fighting right there and then and trashed the party. I was there and you should have seen, the cholos were throwing anything and everything they would find....chairs, beer bottles, decorations, and even tables! I was so scared and felt so bad for the quinceanera cuz her special day was ended and all these memories of the cholos ruining one of the most importants day of her life. The police swarmed the whole place and kicked everyone out and it was one of the scariest things that ive been thru. So... Should i be strict and get criticized? or should i hope for the best and let everyone in?

I think what Im going to do is give ppl invitations. And after 8:30 or something u can only come in if u have an invitation. Before 8:30 u can come if u dont have one. I mean because all the ppl that werent invited only come for the dance anywayz , so they`ll be coming around 9 or somethin. Know wat I mean? And if it fills up the security ppl arent even gonna let anyone in unless prolly the Quinceanera tells them they can come in, but I dont think so b/c u know there are rules about how many ppl can be in the salon.

Plus i dont think u`ll get critizied, just remember to invite all the people u want to invite. DONT FORGET ANYONE!

And if you scroll up in the messages above, youll find a list i made a while ago. Anywayz..about the suits, i think the guys would look nice in black tuxedoes. Its not too much, it doesn`t look fake, and they look really elegant. Thats what i think anyways. All right well hope i helped some.

Okay i was reading some of your messages and they date back a while ago so i dont know if you have decided anything else. First off this is YOUR quinceanera and you only get one. If you want the theme to be pachuco you go for it. Dont listen to what people say again this is YOUR day! as for a song for the dance with your father its up to you listen out for songs old and new that have a meaning for you. The difference between a baltz and waltz is that one is spelled in spanish. Seriously. Its the same thing.as far as inviting the parents of the court its a must because first of all they gave their kids permission to be in your court they are paying for the dressed and tux`s and extra money for cars or limo`s ( depending) at least give each court member 2- 3 invations to invite the people they choose. Other traditions about giving stuff off that i have seen is giving away a doll or a toy to a younger sibling or the next family member to turn 15. It gives the meaning of "growing up" of course you can get it back. But who can say not to make up your own tradition. As for other stuff for you guys to go with the suits hatz, chains, bandanas, suspenders will give it more of a look.

I say..go for whatevers in your heart. If your truly happy w/ it then go for it. Also, look and listen to all suggestions before deciding so then, your not like "damn i should have done this" or " i should have done that". I think its cool everyone here can give suggestions and opinions so you see all options and choices, so in the end, you dont make mistakes.

About the invitation thing. I think that is a good idea because you will avoid some problems. I was gonna do that for mine but decided not to and to my advantage if finished very nice and no problems. Although my chambelan told me that there was a fight at my party but I didn`t even know about it. So I guess it all depends on the people you invite. If they have bad friends then make it invitation only.

My color is just light blue now. The guyz are gonna wear black zoot suits and my chambelan is gonna wear a white one. My dress is gonna be white.I dont know if I should add another color or wat?? I do know that instead of silver stuff - like silver tiara, scepter, etc. - Im gonna have gold. Should I have a theme? my quinceanera will be in the month of April. I think clouds would look cute _ wat do guyz think???Any other ideas that u hav would be great!

I don`t see why we should or why we do get criticized for little things like the zoot suits because its our special day not theres. Im tired of people in my famliy criticizing me for stupid things like what songs are gonna be played at the party or whether i want a band or not.

For my quince I want to have the whole fifteen people but most of my close friends are white and cant stand/understand spanish or dance to tejano music and I dont know if I should invite them and hope they come or invite some other hispanics Im not so close friends with

I have 6 guys in myne...weve already started practising, and three are white and three are brown one of wich is half white, so don`t worry about there unability to mexican stuff... Because my guys did fine during practise so far ... They liked it too!!! So if my guys aren`t they dancing type (just mosh pits).. Then youre guys will do great!!!!!!!
