Deprovera

Hi i have been taking deprovera for 6 mths. I have not had a single period but still get pmt like i am going to. I must say that i have been suffering from a bad case of depression since i first started taking this contraception and i will not be taking it again. I was wanting to know more about the side effects as someone told me that once i stop taking it i must not get pregnant within the first year as i could end up having a baby with birth defects. Does anyone know if this is true. Contraception was just a tempoary measure for myself and my partner to decide if we wanted a child or not i am 38 and don`t feel that i have a whole year to put our plans on hold. Julie australia
