A friend of mine was in same situation and had an hawaiian
Luau in back yard. She get flowered necklaces for guests and had tiki torches edge the yard and relatives each brought a dish it was a lot of fun and looked pretty . Also invites were hand written on flower shaped cards. Hope this is a fun idea for you.

I just recently started shopping for my gown, and I`ve been pleasantly surprised at how many dresses there are for women who are larger than a size 10. I`m an 18, and there were quite a few dresses available to fit me. Just be sure to leave your ego at home. In some dresses the 18 fit wonderfully, while in others a size 24 wouldn`t zip. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to the sizing conventions.

The only bad thing I found while dress shopping is the lack of tags in the gowns, and the salespeople usually won`t tell you who the designer is. Apparently many retailers do this. And in my experience, they often come up with some lie about the reason for it instead of simply telling the truth and saying it`s their policy to not give out designer names. I am really quite unhappy with this policy, but many retailers seem to go for it. Refusing to shop at a store that practices this is an option of course, but that really limits your choices.

I was surprised that your low budget wedding plans include a $1000 dress! Personally I`m hoping to find my dress for $600 or less. Or better yet, I hope to find a rental. Have you tried that avenue? I have about nine months yet, so I`m not too worried...yet!

If you are looking for a gown from a specific designer go to netbride.com they are a discount bridal service and they can give you a quote. I went to a bridal store and was quoted $870 from them and netbride quoted the same dress including shipping and no tax for $505. I received it about two months earlier than expected and it is absolutely beautiful. I am going to purchase my bridesmaids dresses from them too!!! I looked at your website and the dress you have on there is beautiful, I saw one in my searches on the web that is almost similar. When I find out the designer I will go ahead and send that to you. Thanks everyone for all the ideas! They are great! I am looking for a dress carried in my size(which I dont know lol) and I was planning spending no more than 550 but my father said if I couldnt he`d give me up 700 to get one made but the idea of getting a dress custom made and wearing it once at these prices are ..lol scary ... .Today I am going to go to a dress warehouse and fingers crossed I find one I love! Keep the ideas coming! Anyone know what size tent you need to fit 50 -75 people ? I am soo lost lol :-) Thanks!

I just helped my niece plan her at home wedding. We live in Southern California. It was an evening wedding so we had lots and lots of white lights. They really set the mood. We also used alot of balloons that we filled ourselves. We bought the least expencive arch at Micheals and decorated it with tulle, lights and silk flowers. I checked the ads regularly and every thing was bought on sale(tulle, flowers, lights) Is there a Costco(discount warehouse) in your state? That`s were she bought her cake, it was a sheet cake, done in all white(white frosting, white border and white roses) for 14.95! One cake feeds about 25-30. I have done five weddings, all which had at least 100 people, and the total budget was all of about 1500.00 including food, decorations, bride`s dress, flowers, etc....
I have lots of ideas for cutting costs, email if interested!!!
