Children At Reception

I did not have children at my wedding only the flower girl and ring bearer. I had an evening wedding and did not feel that it was right to have children at a night time wedding that had an open bar all night. I do not like alcohol around children nor do I think that they should be in an adult atmosphere.

I did not have children at my wedding either. I had Flower Girl and Ring Bearer as well but after taking pictures and giving them a special dinner and dessert, they were taken home by their sitter who was invited to wait for them. She took them to have dinner at Friendly`s and I gave her a $50 gift certificate. Since my reception was Black tie Formal at a mansion and the 5 course meal was $145 per person which included open bar. I was not going to pay for children to be invited. The price was the same for adult and child. I was not going to pay for children.

I was going to have children come. The place that I rented had a room that they would decorate for the children, activities and things like that but it was an extra $15,000. I love children, I love my family but I was not going to pay that extra money just to have them to be apart of my day, it wasn`t fair to my parents or my husbands parents since they were paying for the entire reception 50/50.

I had children at my wedding and reception and if I had it to do over again, I would not have them there. The attention span of children is not long so there was crying on the video, some children ran around the church and it was just too much. The reception for children`s plate (tenders, fried, apple sauce, fruit cup) was $30. That was quite a bit of money for that meal. One parent felt it was cute that her son put his finger in the cake. I just feel that some people do not have control of their children and many do not believe that their children should be spanked. You have some that are wonderful and have manners and then you have monsters. If I had it to do all over again, they would not be there.
