CASH AS BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR 2 YEAR OLD

I am having a birthday party for my 2 year old son... He has plenty of toys and i would like the guests to give cash as his present so I may put it aside for him for either college..or one large toy that he has been wanting... I would like to put a nice poem in the invitation asking this.. But how could it be worded?? please help!!

People are soooooo rude. Reguardless of what message board this is on, what is the point of being so nasty? One day all you brides who are upset by this, you may have children and you will look for advice about something. I hope someone shows you the same curtsy you showed this mom. If you have ever been to a childs birthday party then I assume most of you call the parent and ask them for gift ideas. It would not be rude or low class for the parent to suggest what kind of toys, clothes the child is into, nor would it be rude or low class to tell them you have opened a savings for college if they perfer to give money. What on earth goes through your minds when the mom just wanted some advice?
