Want To Marry In A Native American Ceremony

Hello,

My fiance and I would like to get married in a Native American ceremony, but we do not know how to contact someone to arrange for that. We would like a Native American wedding for several reasons.

We very much like and respect Native American values. We feel that much of what we know about Native American spirituality fits better with our spiritual beliefs than does Christianity, with which we were both raised. Also, I have Native American ancestry, although several generations removed. I don`t have all of the information on hand, but I can get proof of ancestry if need be. My fiance and I both feel that Native Americans are perhaps the most spiritually beautiful people in the world, and we would be very much honored if we were allowed to get married in a Native American tradition. Please forgive me if such a request is inappropriate; I truly do not mean any disrespect. Any help or information would be GREATLY appreciated. We plan to marry sometime in November 2006. Thanks :-)

Native Americans don`t have wedding ceremonies. We have wedding traditions. To me it is very inappropiate for a non Native to want to practice wedding traditions of Native people. I lived on a rez growing up and I am very in touch with my roots.

While it is nice that you admire and respect our spirituality and beliefs, it is not appropiate to take part in them. Unless of course you live you life immersed in those beliefs and traditions daily.
