Deprovera

I took Deprovera when I was 37 because I was done having children. I loved not getting my period but it made me extremely moody. I was on the shot for 3 years and after I went off the shot it took a year and 3 months for my period to return. Once it returned my bleeding was heavier than normal and I now have cycles approximately every 15 days!!!!! I do not recommend this to anyone who wants to have children especially.

When I was on the depo shot I would have a period for an entire month the month before I was due for my next shot. I recently got off the shot in March, and I had two periods pretty much back to back. There were maybe 2 weeks between. My normal cycle was 28-30 days, I knew when I would start like clockwork (before the depo). Now I`m late on my period and I`m wondering if I`m pregnant. I just wanted to know if anyone else had problems like mine with the depo shot.

I had my first shot back in 1998 then 3months later i got my second one.i bled non stop for a year. Then i got my period every 2 weeks, very heavy, for about six months, and it got crazier, sometimes my periods would go for 7 or 8 days stop for a day or 2 then start again for another 5 days, this still occasionally happens.they are starting to be regular but they are still very very heavy and a lot of blood clotting from start to finish. I regret ever getting that deprovera shot, it really messed me up. I`m a 40 yr. Old mother of three teenagers, i was hoping to have one more child a few years after i stopped the shot but hasn`t happened, and i haven`t used any birth control since that shot.
I used to be very easy to get pregnant, that shot messed up my reproductive system. They shouldv`e taken it off the market years ago.

I was on the Depo shot for 2 years and got off a little over a year ago. I never had a period while on the shot. It took me a while before I had a period and they were regular for a few months (7 days), now they are only lasting 3 days at the most for the last 2 months. I had heard that the shot was not that great for your reproductive system and only wished I had listened. I now have the same questions as to if I am pregnant or not.

My name is Ashley. I am 18 yrs. Old. I have been on
Depo-Provera for 1 year. I would not advise the shot. I am thinking about getting off of it. I love not having my periods, but it is really taking a toll on my health. I have headaches from close to day one of the shot. I have about 3 headaches day and they last all day. I have gained tremendous weight as well. I went through alot with my headaches. I have been through cat scans and mri`s because I did not know my shot was causing me to get ill. Thats all I have to say. I just wanted you to know how sick I am getting from this shot.
