Please Help Need Really Cheap Wedding

I am getting married in a month and half and i dont want to go to the court to get married but we dont have much money between moving and two kids and me not working. I want a simple nice wedding. Us dressed up a few friends and a small reception we dont have many friends 20 to 30 maybe. Would it be wrong to just get a white dress somewhere other than a wedding dress and hin just wear a cheap suit from jc penneys and no flowers just wedding then a cake and just a reception type of thing just for people to talk and enjoy the day. We ca spend maybe 500 to do something small. I just dont want a court wedding. He says do the court thing and our anaversary we have a renew vowls thingy. Got any ideas please let me know

HI,
I am so faced with the same problem. We only have a budget of about 500$ also. Don`t worry! A wedding is a celebration of your love, sounds cheesy but true. Have you tried looking into apartment complexes? Some of those have really pretty clubhouses that you could have your reception in. Also, try a public park, or any farms in your area. Some places will let you use it if you give them the pics for advertising.

Most buffet restaurants will allow you to have a room to yourself and you can decorate it, burn some CD`s and play music and make favors. For your wedding, is there a nice garden chapel that you can use or a gazebo? You can set up chairs and get married in the park or have your church do the wedding. Get a nice 2-tier cake from your local bakery with flowers to match your colors. Get some flowers from the local SuperMarket and make your bouquets, go to the dollar store and find Champagne glasses, fill them with the Hugs and Kisses candy and leave a note that says, The Bride & Groom give you Hugs & Kisses to thank you for all the well wishes or something like that. Get an engraving kit from the local craft store and get someone with good handwriting to etch your names on them and the date, wrap them up in cellophane and put a ribbon on them. Most buffet places charge $10 per person and the room is nice enough for you guys to have a dance, eat, cut the cake and have a nice time with your guests. OR, you can get married in a church and find a nice picnic area in the park and get close family members to make salads (garden, potato, coleslaw and tuna), cook the meats and have a nice bbq in the park. Put table cloths on the tables, hang decorations, play music, games, have a good time and what you can do is put all of the salads in a large cooler filled with ice, and just have a nice time. Most of your family members will help you to purchase meats from a butcher and you can find a few men folk to man the grills and cook the meats while the wedding is going on. I like the buffet idea though, it is really nice and seems like a sit down reception but both will be fine on that budget.
