I am planning an Oct beach ceremony in Cape May, NJ anyone have any ideas? Should guest sit and watch the exchange of vows or should chairs be down? What about the music?

I am having the same problem. I am having my wedding in May down in Cape May. My mother in law to be insists that there be chairs but I don`t think it is necessary. We plan on having a short ceremony so i think it will be more of a hassle to have chairs. I am not having any music on the beach, as I don`t think it will be heard due to the sound of the ocean. Please write back if you have received any suggestions or would like to share any details about your wedding.
Hope to hear from you,
Danielle

Hi --
Most ceremonies not performed w/in a religious church service/mass last 20 minutes at the very most. And that`s a relatively long ceremony.
You might want to consider having a few seats for any disabled guests (this could include even disabilities of which you`re unaware, such as a recent fall). If so, mark them as such, sort of like "handicapped" parking spots.
Candy, I agree w/ Danielle about music. Take advantage of the beach`s own ambiance & consider letting its own sounds provide your "music". The crashing of waves & cries of gulls are part of this site. The only outside sound I would personally consider adding might be wind-chimes or a bell to ring in your Processional ...
Good luck to both of you!
An officiant,
Bonnie
