The Brides Room, Wheeling, Illinois
We purchased a sample wedding gown from The Brides Room in Wheeling, Illinois under the premise that their sample gowns are half the retail price of new gowns. The gown was marked at $950 and reduced by $100 to cover cleaning costs. When we got home, we researched the designer`s web site and discovered that we could have purchased the exact gown NEW for $311 from an internet retailer and for $400 from two other Chicago area bridal shops! After several phone conversations with the shop owners who treated us like crap, I filed a complaint with the Chicago area Better Business Bureau who mediated a settlement. We ended up receiving a $425 refund, so we paid $500 for a soiled gown that we are now going to try to sell; however, the bridal shop ripped the fiber content tag from the gown, so our chances of selling the gown have been diminished greatly. My advice is DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT PURCHASING A GOWN FROM THE BRIDES ROOM IN WHEELING, IL.

Please know in reading the story posted by Sharon that the facts are not what were written. Our service is impeccable, backed by nearly 11 years in the business and the pleasure of being part of hundreds of Chicago-area bride`s weddings. Sharon purchased a gown she loved, then decided she wanted to return it, the policy in the bridal business is that all sales are final, we did all we could to accommodate her requests, and she still wasn`t happy. We NEVER remove tags from our garments. If we receive them that way, we are obviously forced to sell them that way and price them based on our purchase price. We also do all we can to research the gown manufacturer, style, etc.. Once we realized that our gown had indeed been overpriced, but had left our store several months earlier, we immediately credited Sharon the difference in price. Regarding the condition, we cannot speak to how it became "soiled" -- that is not how we delivered it to her. We always encourage our brides to let us store their gowns (at no charge) for them to keep them nice and safe before alterations. Trying on a gown over and over for the excitement of family and friends is necessarily a good idea.
Should you want to visit our store, it will be our pleasure to prove our level of service, quality and commitment to you.
