Wedding Invitation Etiquette

I am the Mother of the Groom. Due to a Divorce and remarriage on my part my son and I do not have the same last name. I have been married so long now that most of friends and relatives on my side know my son as his first name belonging to me (associating him with my current last name) I received my wedding invitation today and was so hurt because his bride to be and family never consulted me about the wording of the invitations. It reads her parents name Commander and Mrs.......... Request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter .... To My son`s name then the date etc. No mention of who his parents are so my elderly relatives and family friends won`t connect why they got the invitation. They won`t know who it is using his first and last name without mention of me and my current last name. Is it not proper if mentioning parents to mention parents of both parties getting married?
