Valentines Day Wedding

Hi,
My fiance and I are getting married the day after Valentines day 2004. We are looking for simple but elegant ways to incorporate the winter/Valentines day theme without being cheesy. Any suggestions?

A very nice favor and really inexpensive is to have cd`s burned with all of the slow songs played at your wedding on it. Also you can have a nice heart theme as a cover for the cd. Cd`s are very cheap and you can burn them yourself. That`s what I`m doing for my wedding. Good luck

I am getting married on valentine`s day, and am looking for ideas too! So far, my bridesmaids are wearing red(my fav anyway), and we are incorporating the history of valentines day into the programs. Also, my fiance thought of naming all the tables after flowers, and having a card with the photo of the flower, the latin name, english name, and meaning associated with the flower. I`d love to share ideas with you! feel free to email us at MDLNDSCP@AOL.COM

Going with the Theme of Red as well as having Angles/Cupids centerpieces or pieces/ice sculptures(classy type of look, not cheesy ones) would be cute as well as eloquent if done right. Have a great wedding and if you need any pre-party items, visit us at www.bachelorettepartyfun.com and www.bachelorpartyfun.com.

I am also getting married on V-Day 2004 and have researched the history of V-Day. To the girl that wrote she is incorporating the history into her programs...I just want to caution you that it really is not a good story. A priest named Valentine was marrying people in private without permission and they beheaded him on Feb. 15. Just letting you know.

Hello,

I am also getting married Valentine`s Day 2004. My colors are red and white. For my favors I am giving away 3x3 size white pillar candles in a red organza bag. It is a inexpensive (about $1.50 ea.), elegant, and useful (if necessary during a blackout - I live in NY!) favor. I am also thinking about twinklecandy.com flower lollypops to add a little romantic fun. Any suggestions?

I am getting married on this day also. I have already purchased heart shaped glass bottles with stoppers and I am having a hard time trying to make up my mind as to what to fill them with. I have thought of candy hearts, cinnamon hearts, bath oit, potpourri, flower seeds. Does any one know of any cool websites that could help me make my mind up? Thanks!

I have some burgundy/silver silk flower arangements in little silver buckets (about 10, I think), along with a realy cute burgundy/silver cake topper and a few other wedding items that I did not end up using for my wedding. We eloped instead! If you are interested I would sell them all for about $25.00 (plus shipping). If that is too expensive, make me an offer! Email is shawnrw1024@yahoo.com.

Good luck to you all and congrats!

I am getting married on Val Day 04, also. We are trying to keep costs at a bare minimum....
I rented my dress, slip and veil (a boutique sample-Mori Lee) for 99.00.

I am buying my shoes from a consignment store for 15.00.

I am making a hand tied bouquet from velvet roses. My one attendant will carry a single red rose.
Her dress will come from a discount bridal store in the Dallas area for 20.00, and will either be red, burgundy, pink or fuschia.
I will give her a pretty necklace and bracelet to wear from Sam Moons (approx. 15.00)
Her daughters (my future nieces) will be my flower girls. I havent gotten their dresses yet, but I am looking at places like Target and Stein Mart for party dresses that might match their mom`s dress.
I found a darling black and ivory dress with a few fuschia roses attached to the bodice. Would black for the flower girls be out of place with the valentines day idea?
Instead of rose petals and baskets, I am going to give the girls, age 5 and 4 bears with conversation hearts attached to their(the bears`) tummies to carry and hold during the ceremony. I am thinking about getting a couple of these bears to arrange with candles and flowers for the guest sign in table.
We`ll pick up a tie to match the bridesmaid dress, and our best man will wear a black suit.
I am getting a few garlands of greenery and garlands of roses (silk) to decorate the sanctuary. I`ll combine this with ivory or pink tulle bows.
I am having conversation heart confetti on the reception tables, and I found these adorable floating candles shaped like conversation hearts to decorate, as well.
My fiance is a minister at the church where we will be married, and this will be the first marriage for both of us in our forties!!!!
We having a simple cake and punch reception, and using conversation hearts instead of mints on the side.
Does anybody know an inexpensive recipe for punch?
I`m thinking ginger ale and raspberry sherbet.....
Our church provides the plates, forks, bowls, cups...
I think we will cover the tables with white sheets from the dollar store, secure them with rubber bands, and tie them with pink, red, fuschia, ivory ribbon.

The church members are so excited that their bachelor minister is finally getting married, I dont think it will matter what we do or don`t do....

I hope you Valentines brides, and all other brides have a blessed holiday, and are able to get lots of things done during some much needed time off!

I would love to share more ideas .
