Envelope Addressing Etiquette

I was wondering what is the proper way to address envelopes - I hate the old fashioned sexist way of "Mr. And Mrs. John Doe" Would it be proper to address them as Mr. And Mrs. Doe - or if you know both names to put Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Sally Doe?

Lola,

Although proper etiquette suggests Mr. & Mrs. John Doe, rules are broken all the time.

If your wedding is informal or your guests expect "the unexpected" from you, you might put Jane & John Doe.

Be careful though, many guests, especially older guests, might be put off by your lack of formality.

How do you address to a couple that live together. Do you use each of their names with Mr and Ms? Also the proper way to address to a dentist.

Depending on how well you know the couple...I live with my fiance and I`m going to 3 weddings this year! Our invitations have both our first and last name. Does anyone know work etiquette? A few of my supervisors asked where I`m registered or what do I want. How do you respond? If it`s your boss is it rude to not send an invitation?
