Contact www.abc.com. This is American Bridal Consultants. They offer a correspondence course in most states.
Good Luck!

I am interested in becoming a personal wedding planner in nj. If someone can give me some advice on how to go about doing this, I would greatly appreciate it. I am not sure if it`s simply networking or actually going to school for it.
I just got married myself and did it all in 3 months. It was extremely successful and many people said it was one of the nicest weddings/reception that they have been too.

Dear Deb,
There are various ways you can go. The most popular is to take the correspondence courses through June Bride or ABC. Another way is to start out with your church as a site coordinator, read everything you can on the subject, put together (and read) a library, start networking with vendors, take a course from your local SBA on how to set up a business and take any classes offered by ABC or other local wedding professionals.
I`d recommend before you jump in with both feet, you work in a position where you can have first hand knowledge of brides such as a hotel, caterer, bakery, site, bridal shop. Doing your own wedding and doing one for someone else is totally different.
Look on the internet for "wedding planning courses" for a listing of the various courses offered.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
