Kauai Wedding

I am looking to get married in Kauai, Hawaii on Sept. 12, 2003. I have done a lot of research, but because it is so far away it is hard to start planning. I am hoping someone has had a wedding on this island to give me some advice. Any suggestions?

Do you still need help with a wedding in Kauai? I am a wedding coordinator on the Big Island of Hawaii, so I could help you if you were to come to this island. Otherwise I suggest you go to www.google.com and search Kauai wedding, and then go through the sites that are listed!!! :):) Good luck

Hi! My name is Lisa and I am also planning a wedding in Kauai. I am getting married on July 13, 2003 and I swear I have done SO much research in regard to planning this wedding in Kauai. I would LOVE to talk to you as my fiance had become tired of hearing my incessant talk about this wedding. Please reply, we can compare notes.

We are getting married in Kauai in April 2003. I highly recommend you talk to Tori at Hawaiian Island Wedding Planners (do a search on yahoo). There is a flat fee of about $300 and she plans EVERYTHING!! She found us a private location on the beach...sunset wedding. We have 3 months until our wedding day but I know it will be beautiful!! Talk to Tori, though.... She has planned alot of weddings in Hawaii!

WOW! This is soooo perfect that i found you guys. I too am getting married in Kauai in October of 2003. I`m only recently engaged and am finding waaaaay too much junk on the net about weddings in Kauai. I`m looking to simplify everything (as you all are i`m sure) and maybe we could pool our resources in preparing for Kauai weddings. I love the advice for the coordinator, i know what i want (Not those "packages" they offer) but instead, just a cooridator to help me with the simply ideas i have without wasting my time searching for "what is the best for ...and where?". If anyone would like to join in the "Kauai wedding extravaganza", let`s talk! Good luck to you all!

I am definately game for pooling our resources. I`m getting married at a resort and my package came with a planner--I think that is the MOST worry-free route to take. She has connected me with the vendors and after speaking with them, they seem absolutely wonderful. I would really like to share and get new ideas as well. E-mail me at knowledge25@yahoo.com

Hello. I, too, am planning to get married in Hawaii in Oct. 2003. However, we are planning for Maui. If you guys come across anything for Maui, please let me know. I have done TONS of research on the internet, but there is SO MUCH out there, it`s a little overwhelming. I`m still at a loss for what/where/how/etc. I`d like to keep it simple, as we all would!! It`s easier when you know someone who has also had a good experience with a certain vendor. Thanks!!!

Hi All- I am getting married in Kauai on June 24, 2003. I used Bali hai wedding services and they helped me with everything. My package cost $750 and that includes a site (we pick from a bunch of free locations), an on-site wedding coordinator, a minister, two leis, a bridal bouquet, 36 photographs & negatives, champagne and two glasses. We decided on a luau after the wedding because it is the most reasonable for your dollar, all you can eat and drink for $55, we have 10 people attending so the price is great. We have everything done except we want to rent a van and driver to shuttle our guests. It is so nice to have everything done with no worries.

I just got back from my wedding in Kauai and had an incredible time! It is definitely more convenient to book through a hotel that suits your taste otherwise you end up using your wedding planner`s regular vendors, which they generally use for every event.. If you want additional options (caterers, florist, photographers) just ask for an additional reccomendation- you may have some very specific requests. Once you check out websites or faxed info then you can make a final decision...or if you are really into a low-key wedding that`s great too. There is something to be said for having everything planned for you! It is hard to go wrong is Kauai, everything is so beautiful !

If you have some very specific ideas on some of your wedding details be sure and meet with the vendors if you have time. Sometimes you vision and their vision isn`t exactly the same. Try their food, look at some arrangements, look at their photos, and check out the site you will be married at on the time you are planning the ceremony. You may have some chages (which is completely easy to do in a short notice)

I was really pleased with our dinner reception after the ceremony. We dined right on the beach, although the hotel was insisting we place the tables under tent, they were worried about the weather since Kauai has such unpredictable bursts of rain. We rented the tent just in case and set the tables outside. My guests dined right on the beach under the stars with the reflecion of the moon on the ocean! We also had an amazing Hawaiian Guitarist and a Fire twirling Hula girl, both were very affordable. One last bit of advice, if you can afford it take 3-4 days to arrive on the island by yourself and get acclimated. It made all the difference in the world. I was completely relaxed by the time my guests arrived and felt ready for all the festivities!! My fiance/husband arrived when all our guests did and he really had a hard time relaxing at first - there was so much going on! If anyone has any specific questions feel free to email me at kristenwhite@cox.net. I wished I had some inside scoop before I started planning my wedding. I planned a destination wedding for 26 people just last month. I have done a ton of research! Good Luck!

Also, Everyone should subscribe to Pacific Rim Wedding Magazine. It is by far one of the best wedding magazines out there, and it is specifically designed for Beach Weddings. Great layouts and ideas. Their website pacificweddings.com has gifts, cake toppers, favors and the option to order all the back issues, (8 total I think) Anyway... It is the only magazine you need for resources!!

I`m planning my wedding in Kauai for June of 2004. There is a billion wedding coordinators out there! Does anyone have any suggestions for a great coordinator? There`s just so many! I`m having a really hard time making a decision. My travel agent recommended me to go through Aloha Wedding Planners, Inc. I`m not too happy with there responses or prices. Any other recommendations anyone has?

Do you know where in Kauai you would like to get married? Are you using a hotel? You really just need to talk to the vendors get ideas, have things faxed to you for approval, and then and coordinate from your home, and then get there a day or two early. I had talked to a few of them, but found them all worthless! Even the one at my Hotel (The Princeville) really didn`t care that much about helping me. They are really into "packages" and kept saying how low-key everything is on the Island. I am an event planner and got married in Kauai. I would be happy to help you with some recommendations. At the very least let me get you information on the person for Hair and Make-up. I had a couple "run-throughs" and they weren`t that great. Post here or email me at kristenwhite@cox.net.

Hi Kristen, I`m getting married in Kauai and I would love to have your recommendation for hair and makeup? I`m looking for a beach location on the south shore, and wanted an ocean view reception for about 12 people. Do you have suggestions?

I just got a notice from this board saying I wasn`t a prefered vendor or member who has and they thought I was advertising that book or the hair salon instead of making personal recommendations. They took my last message off the board with my personal recommendations . If anyone wants more info email me direct at kristenwhite@cox.net

Hi guys! I am also planning on getting married in Kauai (in May 2004). I am having trouble picking location, coodinators and packages.

This is what I am looking for... It`s only going to be my fiance and me. We would like to get married on the beach, have dinner, cake, music, photography and videography. I would also like to have hair and makeup done.

Which are the best locations, and which are the locations to avoid?

Also- what are your ideas on shipping wedding dresses?

My budget is in the medium range. I do not want to get the cheapest package, but I do not want to spend a fortune either. Thanks!!

Try Gaylord`s at Kilohana plantation--either the courtyard restaurant for a smaller afternoon wedding, the elegant antique filled dining room for an intimate reception after a ceremony in the drawing room or pop a tent on the lawn--try to find them online. Bless you and good luck jesse brown littlewingak@hotmail.com
The food and service is fabulous
