Depovera Shot
I, too, have a horror story to tell about Depovera. I got on the shot to regulate my periods. Instead of regulating my periods, the shot made me bleed, non-stop for over a month. I gained weight and also became depressed and suicidal. The shot makes your emotions feel 10 times what they really are. I also experienced bad short-term memory loss. I received the shot two times and decided to get off of it because it was not serving its purpose. My doctor says it takes up to six months (since your last shot) for the hormones to leave your body. I cannot wait until this mess is out of me. Since not receiving my third shot at the three-month mark, I am starting to lose weight, but I constantly feel like I have to throw up and am very lethargic. I cannot wait until the day Depo leaves my system forever. I`m glad I learned about this drug before I ever thought about having kids. I know, now, not to use this type of contraception in the future. For anyone who uses this drug and finds this drug advantageous, wonderful! For anyone who is experiencing the side-effects that I experienced, stay far away from DEPO for your health, please! :)

A little added note for those who are one depo because they think it is safer then the pill - I have three kids - I only planned to have two, but after #2, I went on depo instead of the pill and ended up pregnant!

I am 35 years old and was having problems with other birth control. So I decided to get the Depovera shot because of my age and a back injury I can not carry anymore children. I have been depressed and my hair is coming out,in clumps my doctor says there is nothing I can do about it I just have to wait it out. He said only 5% of woman on the shot has hair loss so let this be a warning to woman watch what birthcontrol you take it could make you bald.

They do not give you a pamplet on what the depo can do to you. The side effects are lose of hair like what Im going through, weight gain, bloodclots, and if you and your fiance plan on having more children when you go off it , it will take you a year to get your period because you dont get it you dont ovulate so think about it there are more options.
