Buffet Reception
We too are planning an inexpensive reception by preparing our own foods. They have great prices at Sams club. On the table will be the goblets and silver/napkin. My concern is , is it tacky to use clear hard plastic plates?

MeMe,
No! Tacky would be asking them to bring their own dinnerware. I attended a very elegant wedding reception held in a ballroom. There were approx. 500 people there. The plates were red hard plastic (matching the bride`s color scheme). Looked beautiful on the table and if anyone didn`t like it, I didn`t hear them say. It`s your reception, have it however you want it. If you try to please everyone, you`ll go crazy.
Good luck and best wishes.

Go for it with the clear plastic plates,, I am a catering director and I have brides use plastic often, but keep in mind,,those clear plastic plates arent cheap,, sometimes they are comparible to the cost of renting china. If you need help with how much food you will need to prepare, I will be glad to help you,, email me if you want.
Good luck, Alli
